1978 Volkswagen Bus/Westfalia Up for bid is my 1978 Westfalia Campmobile. The vehicle is in fair condition and is mostly original. The actual mileage is unknown but likely over 100k. IT IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING. The vehicle was sent out to a mechanic about 5 years ago to have the fuel tank and injectors replaced but the project was put aside by him and never completed. He wasn't a VW guy and went onto another project. After taking it back it has sat in my garage for 3 years. Prior to that it ran well. I just don't have the time to deal with it any longer so I've decided to let it go to someone who will appreciate it and hopefully restore it. The vehicle maintains many of it's original features such as all the window curtains, rear screen, swing away dining table with folding leaf, swivel passenger seat, running board, and rare interior gasoline heater (not working) under the back seat. All of the cabinets and veneer are in great shape. The sink and water tank is present but the pump is not hooked up. The original carpet still exists under the wood floor. All the original cushions are there and in good shape. It still maintains the original 2 litre fuel injected engine. The fuel injection was removed to access the fuel tank and new injectors were installed but it will need new fuel lines to bring it all together. The factory heater boxes are long gone. This vehicle had some amateur body work done on the rockers many years ago so I can't say what is underneath. They also did some welding to the "dog legs" to reinforce them. The vehicle has been off the road for about 9 years so it will need new tires, brakes, fuel lines, etc. Do not expect to hop in and drive it away. It's definitely going to need some money invested in it to get it going again. It is the perfect candidate for a full restoration or fix it up and drive as is. The pop top canvas is in poor condition but it comes with a new replacement still in the box as well as brand new fuel injectors. The gas tank is new and is just sitting in place. New plugs and tune up items are also included. An experienced classic VW mechanic could get it going relatively quickly but they're in short supply around here. I bought this 11 years ago on a whim and used it sparingly as we had a baby and life got in the way. These buses are a blast to drive so it was hard to get rid of it so it's basically sat unused except for the yearly start up. I have placed a reasonable reserve on it as I'd like it out of my driveway before the first snowfall. I have a clear Massachusetts title in my name. I can assist with shipping but that must be coordinated by the winning bidder. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!
