Up for sale is a 1966 VW Beetle (Bug). I purchased this car some time back, with the intention of restoring it, but have buried myself in too many projects (again), and I have to let this one go. Upon purchasing the car, I was told it had only been sitting for a short while, so I added new oil, and new fuel, and it fired right up. It has a very durable Optima "red top" battery, which easily starts the car. I noticed the "Generator Light" was on when it first started (which is great, as it shows it works), but once you rev it a little bit, it goes out, and stays out, again ... as it should. I started with the interior first, and hadn't gotten to the engine yet, but since it runs so well, there was no urgency, and I'm sure with a minor adjustment to the carburetor, or tightening of the belt, this "gen light" issue will easily be resolved. Regarding the interior, the car has new "tar boards" under the carpet, new carpeting throughout, new front seat covers and new front seat cushions. (Please note, the front driver's seat seemed a little wobbly, and I identified a small piece of metal missing at the bottom of the seat. The seat appears to work fine, but the new owner may want to address this. (I will point it out once we meet). New visors, new door panels, new seat belts, a new back seat cushion and back panel. The rear seat has a small "ripped and glued" area near the front edge. Nothing too bad, just wanted to point it out. I have a set of new rear seat covers, that I will include with the purchase, so the new owner can replace the cover, (if so desired). Rear backrest is not bolted in yet, but I have included the bolts required to do so (should be in glove box). The headliner is a little worn but nothing too distracting. The glass is all intact, but the driver's window, although easily lowers, has a hard time going back up. It seems like the gears are slipping or something, and you may need to help it a little to get it closed. I'm sure an easy fix, I just didn't get around to fixing that yet. Also, one of the "wing window latches" is missing. I have placed two new ones in the glove box, so all the new owner needs to do is drill out the rivets on the old ones and replace the new ones with screws. Regarding the exterior, the hood (trunk) area also has new carpeting, and a new electrical wiring cover, which really cleans up that area. The original jack is under the hood, along with a lug-nut breaker bar and prybar for hubcaps. The engine and engine compartment look clean (as stated before, I haven't done anything to the engine yet, except for the oil and fuel). The car comes with five (5) original wheels and hubcaps (which, I'm told are hard to come by), and all tires seem to be holding air. The car has some dings, dents, and scratches, but nothing too extensive. The worst being the front right corner, where it looks like it hit something. I do not see any damage to the chassis, just cosmetic. The hood does not close completely though with the spare tire in it, So I currently have it bungeed in place. Looks like a couple well placed welds, a few minor hammer blows, and a rope-tug on the front corner, and this thing will be close to new again ;-). It should be a super fun and somewhat easy restore, and once completed, the car will be worth twice as much. Or just drive it as is and enjoy the patina. As indicated earlier, I have not done a thorough run-through of the engine, or any of the mechanicals, just simply because I hadn't gotten that far yet. I did replace the front brakes though (new rotors, pads, and calipers), also bled the brakes, but I have only driven it a couple miles or so, and although it did fine, and likely able to make it across town, I would strongly suggest you trailer it home initially, so you can do your own thorough inspection, before taking it on any long trips. It should be noted; I am selling the car in "AS-IS" condition, without any guarantees or warrantees of any kind. Once it leaves my place, it's yours ... No Returns. Please do your due diligence, and ask as many questions as you like, and I will do my best to answer as quickly as possible. Or if you want to see it, let me know, and we will figure something out. I can't recall if all the lights work, but I think one headlight is out. Also, there is an added switch (on the dash) which operates the hazard lights and makes it easy for towing. Good gas mileage -- No smog -- Cheap and easy to maintain -- Fun to drive -- Current registration -- Title in hand I wish you all the best of luck.Thank you for your interest. P.S. (I am asking for a deposit to secure your purchase. Please submit thru the "secure payment process" Ebay offers, or thru PayPal. Once received, we can make arrangements to exchange the balance and paperwork.)
