1989 Volvo 240 DL Wagon, speed, ower windows, ower brakes, ower steering, ir-conditioning, eated seats, ruise control, hird row child seat. Has some nice upgrades and a MAJOR stage 0 service. It is showing 97,070 miles but its more like 200,000 since the odometer was broken for a while (it works now). Original white paint with blue cloth interior. No rust. Texas car its whole life. Gets 23 mpg in town and up to 27 mpg on the highway. I'm the third owner and have records all the way back to the 1980s for it. I have receipts for everything listed below and all work has been performed in at most the last 10,000 miles. Overall the paint looks very good with the exception of the upper surface of the LH front fender which shows some topcoat loss and has a paint repair area. Air conditioner blows COLD!!!! This car has no window tint and about 50 yards of glass and it will cool down on a 100 degree Texas day. Clear Texas title in my name and current registration / inspection Suspension / Steering maintenance and upgrades: New genuine Volvo trailing arm bushings New KYB front struts New Sachs rear shocks Set of four Continental Vanco II 185R14 tires with less than 10k mile on them.(the correct size and load range for the wagon) Outer tie rod ends replaced New inner tie rods New tie rod boots New lower ball joints New front strut bellows Stainless steel hubcaps (the original plastic wheel covers go with the car also) IPD 22mm anti-roll bar set (makes the car corner better without any loss to ride quality) New polyurethane torque rod bushings New polyurethane panhard rod bushings GT lower brace bars (improves steering response noticeably) Front end aligned Brake system maintenance: Both rear brake rotors replaced New brake pads all around Brake fluid flushed and replaced (who actually does this?) Electrical system maintenance and upgrades: New LH and RH tail light assemblies New Hella Supertone horns with relays New Sylvania H4 headlight bulb set 55w/60w E-code headlight set with glass lenses that don't fade in the sun (hard to find and expensive upgrade) New tailgate harnesses Environmental system maintenance: New wiper blades New climate control check valve Heater blower motor and resistor (not an easy job!) Air conditioner works great! Engine management system maintenance: Cleaned flame trap Cleaned throttle body New fuel pressure regulator New fuel filter New tank fuel pump and tank sock New air filter New air box thermostat Cooling system maintenance: New thermostat New water pump New radiator hoses New heater hoses Coolant completely flushed and replaced Engine maintenance: Valves adjusted New timing belt and tensioner less than 500 miles ago New valve hushers New cam seals New NGK spark plugs Fresh Rotella 5w40 synthetic oil All motor and transmission mounts replaced Rebuilt cylinder head with valve job and new guides plus a resurface. THE BAD STUFF AND FULL DISCLOSURE DETAILS: The engine idles roughly. It runs great on the freeway but has an uneven idle. I don't know why. I'm tired of working on the car and buying parts for it. Could be an air mass meter or the air idle valve or just a vacuum leak somewhere. It is not showing any fault codes. The LH front fender needs a repaint. It drips a drop of oil about every two days. |
