Description of 1979 Volvo 262C Bertone |
This 1979 Volvo 262C Bertone was owned for many years by a college professor in Erie, PA. This car was in storage for over 20 years. I have done much work to this car over the past year however due to losing my storage space, I must part with this rare car. Now for the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The Good:New wheels and tires (yes they are in perfect condition. It rained the other day and got them all dirty. They will rinse off to like new condition. ). Car comes with original wheels with all season tires and original Volvo Center Caps (not shown).New Water Pump.New Fuel tank, fuel filter and fuel distributor (the fuel system was completely gone over and cleaned and the engine runs fine as a result).Brakes and rotors are all new. Brake fluid flushed. Brakes operate perfectly. The Bad:Needs exhaust Y Pipe (near rear of exhaust).Transmission seals need renewing. It is an automatic transmission and sat too long. It does drive and shift fine with fluid but it quickly runs out. I believe it is 3 inexpensive seals to get it fixed. Climate control may need to be looked at. Volvo made a system I'm not familiar with. The buttons hiss when pressed. Anyone versed I. This type of car should know. The valves need adjusting. I can hear the valves tapping on the left side valve cover. The Ugly:There is rust around the wheel wells. It will need some body work. Also, someone thought it would be a good idea to repaint the car in its original color. It looks like MAACO did it for $300. The Wiper Cowl is rusty and needs to be repaired or replaced. If that didn't scare you and you are still reading, the car is overall very solid. The doors are straight and sound like bank vaults when they close. I love this car and its stylish Italian Leather Bertone Interior. The interior will come back with some restorer. Gorgeous design. Wood paneling on the doors. What more could anyone ask for?!Feel free to contact me with any questions. Good luck and happy bidding. Vehicle is in Conway, NH. Feel free to come and inspect it. |
