For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1940 Willys Sedan. This Purple Willys is an all steel car and is not a kit. This car was professionally built from top to bottom. The majority of the car was built at Gambles Street Rods and the engine was built at Big Al's Toy Box. The engine is a 427 big block Chevy with an 8-71 BDS blower helping this big block produce 650 horsepower! Electric cutouts will let everyone know to not dare try and race you. The rest of the exhaust is stainless steel to a set of Flowmaster Hush power stainless steel mufflers. Supporting all of this power and sending it to the Ford 9" is a Turbo 400 3 speed automatic transmission with a 2800 stall converter. The Ford 9" rear end is housing a set of 3.00:1 gears allowing you to cruise on the highway without turning too high of RPM. Supporting such a powerful car is done with a Mustang II front end that includes rack and pinion steering and tubular upper and lower control arms with adjustable coil over shocks. The rear also has adjustable coil overs and are hooked up to a ladder bar rear suspension. Acting as the main area of strength for the chassis is a reinforced frame so stout it could be mistaken for a full tube chassis. Slowing things down is done with four wheel Wilwood disc brakes. Doing their best to keep this car under control is a set of Hoosier ProStreet tires measuring 31x26.50 R15. Inside the car is built just as well as the drivetrain and chassis. Leather seats keep you firmly in place. A Pioneer CD player lets you enjoy some good tunes, but only when you have the electric exhaust cut outs closed. Classic Instrument gauges let you keep an eye on the engine's vitals. On the floor between the two bucket seats is a B&M shifter for the Turbo 400 transmission. The dash has been autographed by Gasser legend "Ohio" George Montgomery. The last part of this outstanding build is Vintage heat and air. That's right, this puppy has air conditioning! There's roughly 6500 miles on the build and there's no question that it has proven itself a road worthy street terror.
