Description of 1955 Willys Model 38 Truck Military Jeep |
First time offered for sale in many years. A 1955 M38-A1 Jeep with 41,082 miles since new. This jeep has been kept in climate controlled storage for decades and is in amazing condition inside and an out. NO RUST!!! No patch panels or fiberglass in the body, this is a straight super clean Jeep. The undercarriage is squeeky clean and is painted as nicely as the body, straight frame rails and no patches or repairs. It looks like a new Jeep underneath, its that clean! The engine is the original correct F-Head engine with all the correct waterproof ignition parts and is even fitted with the original Gasoline fired heater. Under the hood looks perfect, clean and correct, no mods or incorrect parts. It is fitted with overdrive, which makes for a much nice drive on modern roads, as is can run along and keep up with traffic. The transmission shifts perfectly and is nice and smooth with good synchros, the L and H ranges work great as does the 4WD. Everything feels nice and smooth and quite. The body tub is the original and has the correct build plate behind the passenger seat. The interior is really nice, all the original plaques are in place on the dash, as well as the gas heater control box. All the correct instruments and switches on the dash. The seats and top are not original, but are of the correct original material and construction. The only thing that I can find that is not original is the rims and tires, which are obviously larger than factory. I do have one of the original rims included with the Jeep. I was told that this was a Communications Jeep used in Korea, hence the Gas heater and overdrive. It was the pride and joy of a Army Soldier who was killed in Afghanistan years ago. He lavished years of love and care on this old girl. He did the seats, top and changed the rims and tires to be able to drive it on longer trips. This Jeep is in our climate controlled shop in Stuart Florida and we would welcome potential buyers to come and inspect it in person. We have a clear NC title and are asking $22,500 I have ton of pictures I can share, it there is anything in particular you would like to see in detail. |
