Description of 1955 Willys Pickup |
For sale is my 1955 Willys truck. The Willys is sitting on a 2001 Chevrolet S10 chassis which provides the vehicle power brakes (front disc, rear drum), a better suspension and power steering. Really needs to be rewired, I can’t crack the code to restart it with all the switches and toggles the previous owner put in. The truck has a small block Chevrolet motor that runs well. It has an aluminum Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold and Edelbrock electric choke carb. I don’t know much about the drivetrain but there isn’t any knocking or smoking. The previous owner said it had about 30k miles on it (it looks pretty clean) but I can’t attest to that being a for sure. It does need the drivers side exhaust manifold replaced (I was going to do headers anyway but lost track of time). The body is in good shape and it just got a fresh coat of epoxy primer, “hot rod red” paint and matte clear coat. It was meant to be a shop truck type look. The paint is “fine and looks good from 15 feet”, not a show truck, just meant to give a kind of cool shop truck look. The pictures look good, probably better than in person but it’s not terrible, just being honest so you know what to expect. The seat was just recovered and looks great. New door panels as well. Just a plain old 1955 truck interior. The previous owner drove it off the trailer, I drove it around the block before parking it and I can’t figure out what voodoo magic is needed with the current wiring to start it. It’s got a key, multiple toggle switches and a pull button and I’ll be damned if I know what order these things need to be in to get it started so I’d recommend just doing an EZ-Wiring kit for a couple hundred bucks and be done with it. So the engine is good and somehow the wiring in it can be made to work but it’s beyond me so I can’t fire it up. I’ve had it a little less than a year and just don’t have the time or space to enjoy it. They didn’t make a ton of these so I think it’s a pretty cool truck. It’s a 70 year old truck, it’s loud and stubborn but pretty cool. If you’re looking for a truck to drive across the country tomorrow I’d recommend you check elsewhere. This is just a down and dirty old truck. I have the rear window and gasket, just can’t install it myself. Vehicle Details For sale is my 1955 Willys truck.
