Description of 1989 BMW Z1

The BMW Z1 is a rare car in the US. It was never imported new to the US by BMW, so the only Z1's we ever saw were in the car magazines! This Z1 is one of only 8,000 built between 1989 - 1991. There are maybe 2 dozen Z1's in the USA (mostly under ‘show and display’ rule). It's the ONLY BMW Z1 currently for sale in North America that we know of! This is a great attention-getter and possibly a unique investment! Ultra-Low mileage cars now fetch over $100k at auction.
The Z1 was designed by legendary Porsche designer, Harm Lagaay. It's powered by 2.5L straight six, producing 170hp (similar to 325i E30). It's very unique, with a plastic body, retracting doors, flat underfloor and clever aerodynamics.
This particular car was registered new in Germany. It was exported to the UK just 4 weeks later, and fitted with a mph speedo (very rare). It remained in the UK under the care of a handful of owners until 2016, when it was imported into the US under the DOT 25 year rule. It's seen 1 repaint in original color and the seats were recovered in leather. It has a new roof and the cambelt was replaced 2 years (2,000 miles) ago.
The car has detailed BMW service and UK MOT test records since new. It comes with all books, keys, tools, warning triangle, CD auto-changer, car cover.
It has a fresh oil change and all items are in working condition.
