Description of 1969 Chevrolet Camaro jack douglass

1969 Camaro

Jack Douglass Yenko conversion car

what is a Jack Douglass Yenko? Don Yenko didn't make white SYC cars? It's doesn't have all the correct badges in the right spots?

Well...... there is a story to that....at least a couple...

-Jack Douglass Chevrolet, insdale, LFor 1969, ouglass signed on to be a Yenko franchise dealer, nitially selling a number of Yenko-converted COPOs. After finding documentation of the COPO order in one of the first Yenko cars that he received, ouglass ordered a number of COPO Camaros directly from Chevrolet around March 1969. Yenko found out about this order and Yenko and Douglass worked out an agreement. The COPOs Douglass acquired from Chevrolet were ultimately sold as Yenkos; the striping and badging added by Douglass. This became a source of confusion for enthusiasts a few years ago because the later "Douglass Yenkos" did not appear on any of the SYC inventory lists. For this reason, ome refer to Yenkos' COPOs as "Canonsburg Yenkos".

-COPO purists may see this photo and look askance. Look, t's white! There were no white '69 Yenkos. Well ... it's sort of a Yenko. The tale provides an interesting look into the way things were done way back when. "Don Yenko sold semi-loads of Yenkos to other dealers. Douglas Chevrolet was one of those, nd at one point arranged so they could just buy the stripes, ettering, adges, tc, o install on COPO cars they ordered themselves to save shipping money (instead of cars being sent to Yenko and then sent to Douglas). On the Douglas-made Yenkos, he 'bowties' were left on the car and the familiar 427 on the rear panel was not installed. However, 'Jack Douglas' decal was placed on the rear panel instead. These were not very well known until a few years ago, nd some will still debate them

Do a little internet research, here is a lot of information and disinformation about Jack Douglass Chevrolet. I believe what set a lot of this in motion was the 1/18 scale model yenko Camaro that has been available for years, ts white. It appears the car the 1/18 model is modeled on is in fact a Jack Douglass Chevrolet Yenko Camaro.

Regardless of that, picked this Camaro up out of Ohio where the restoration had been started but the economy faltered in '08. Mostly complete but lots of parts in boxes. What it is;

LS6 454, M crate short block from the 80's, 416 crank, /16 dimple rods, bolt main, tc. the heads are late '69 rectangle closed chamber, 063 intake, olley 780 carb, did use the Comp Cam LS6+ grind solid, uns on pump premium with Crane XRi equipped delco distributor, 69 th400 trans with 70's era stall converter (that has also been rebuilt), 2 bolt posi rear end with 4.10 gear, tainless headers with correct chambered exhaust, ounds phenomenal! correct radiator, oses, lug wires, tc.etc. under hood. Exterior was blocked and sprayed in correct white in BC/CC, ots of new, os and very nice original trim. The Hurst dual gate is still in the car, nrestored and working great, lthough I did take time to connect it to column so the rev lights and neutral safety stuff is working properly. With the radial tires, his thing drives like a dream, nd even thoughit's rowdy, oud and obnoxious... it isrefined like original. I have to shake my head when you think that GM sold stuff like this right off the floor with a warranty. I have pics and vids of car being assembled, will answer any questions you may have so please feel free to ask. I will say right up front, have zero paperwork with this car, eriod, he stories came with the car. I don't want anyone to think they are buyinga quarter million dollar car for a fraction.Nickey Chevrolet had a fully documented white Jack Douglass SYC Camaro for sale for $245,000.00.

BUY IT! ENJOY IT!SHOW IT! Do a little research and tell the Jack Douglass story at car shows and gatherings, 've had great fun with it doing just that.
