Most Corvette aficionados are familiar with the saga of the mid-seventies Corvette. A lot went on during the years '73-'77, ot all of it positive. However, here were a few bright spots in this otherwise "dark era" in automotive history. The federal mandate of 5 mph bumpers and low lead (soon to be unleaded) fuel meant that cars were getting heavier and slower across the board. Not good news for America's Sorts Car. It would be a whole decade before technology caught up to performance and Corvette was no exception. However, he engineers at GM did the best they could with the cards they were dealt.

As for the '74 Corvette, here were a bunch of firsts . . . and lasts that year. Starting with the lasts, his was to be the last year for true dual exhaust, eaded fuel and catalytic converter-less emission systems. Knowing what was in store in the very near future, ompression and horsepower were down, ut you still had freedom of choice in the engine dept! This was the last year you had three engine choices! The base 350ci/195hp small block, s well as two optional power plants . . . the 350ci/250hp L-82 small block or going into its final year, he 454ci/270hp big block. Exterior-wise the aforementioned 5-mph bumpers were fully realized in '74, ut the good news is that the styling of the front and rear urethane covers were beautifully incorporated into the body making the Corvette the only car to seamlessly blend them. Thus, aking it a truly beautiful car from all angles! And all things considered, t still handled like a Corvette, o it had that goin' fer it! It was also still a relative bargain as sports cars go. And still very popular with the buying public. Lots were built, old, riven hard, ut away wet and otherwise trashed and crashed. So, t's gotten increasingly harder to find nice, nadulterated examples still around today.

But over 40 years on, he mid-seventies Sharks are enjoying a comeback of sorts. People are rediscovering the relative ease of ownership, lentiful parts availability. And with the '73-'74's, O SMOG REQUIREMENTS lending themselves to easy and inexpensive mods to go faster and handle even better! They're a lot of fun! As a result, rices are starting to climb. That being said, t's very rare to find a Corvette of this era in untouched, riginal condition that's still drivable!! Which leads us to our featured Shark . . .

So, hen was the last time you saw a '74 with only 400 miles on it? Probably back in '74, ight? We think this is one of the lowest, riginal, ntouched (relatively) down to the original Firestone 500's '74's in existence! Acquired from a collector in WA, his was one of 5 Sharks we purchased from him, ll in excellent condition. But, his one was an oddball (but in a good way) standout.

There's original needing a complete restoration and then there's original like almost new. This one fits the latter category. The car shows very little wear and tear over the last 41 years. The paint is shiny, he interior is pristine and it starts right up! And the rareness doesn’t only extend to the miles and condition. This is an L-82, M-21) 4-speed! It’s also a multiple N.C.R.S. Top Flight Award winner and comes with just about every factory doc, ncluding the original keys w/knock outs, roadcast Sheet, ealer Invoice, urchase docs, ehicle Inspection Statement, omplete Owner’s Kit, opy of the original MSO and Title and more! Other options include: AM/FM Radio, eluxe Interior, ual Horns, ower Brakes, ower Steering, ower Windows and Tilt/Tele Steering Wheel. Future collectible? We think it already is.
