Description for Chevrolet Suburban 1966

I decided to try and sell this project, or finish it up in 2018 if it does not sell. Please only buyers that have the money, and history of buying on ebay. Below are details, and do feel free to contact me with any questions. There are many pallets of parts that come with truck, and 99% of parts are there to complete the truck.

The most recent idea behind the build has been a fully functioning show truck. A show truck that can heat up the tires with the line lock, then wheelie for a picture. Later to cruise the streets and go get a burger with the family. Road course race it if you like. Take it to Pismo and jump it some or rock crawl over at Moon rocks. The engineering design has set limitations that allow it to do everything well. Without the limitations of a purpose built vehicle. All while trying to maintain a HOTROD stature and appearance. Chances of it actually being heavily abused for the sake of fun are pretty small. But there is no point to a show truck if it can't perform if asked to. So making it 100% functional and maintainable was just as important as the style, fit and finish.

This is a "Spared No Expense or Patience" build.

Mechanics:

-100% integrated tubular space frame chassis. Tig Welded Using 1 3/4" 0.120 wall Mild steel tubing and various smaller sizes.

-Dana 60 front axle 5:13 gears, completely boxed end to end, welds ground down and painted

-14 Bolt FF rear axle 5:13 gears, Detroit locker, disc brakes. Completely boxed end to end, welds ground down and painted

-Airbag suspension allowing 11.5" suspension travel using 3500 bags.

-Air system built using 1/2" copper hard lines.

-Chromed FOX 14" 2.0 reservoir shocks and Nitrogen bump stops at all 4 corners.

-Warn 9.5ti

-38 15.50R20 TRXUS STS tires on black 20x9.5 KMC Hoss rims

-Custom built 4340 1.38" Torsion bar sway bars front and rear

-PSC 2.5 full hydro steering

-T304 Stainless steel exhaust and equal length headers fabricated using SPD inc. Hardware and finished with Borla mufflers.

Body:

-Everything shaved as usual including 28' of drip rail.

-Almost every door gap was reshaped using welding rod as filler and grinding to fit.

-Hood and cowl welded together, and custom multi-link tubular hinge design which rotates the hood forward using 2500 airbags.

-Front fender wells were sectioned into the rear Quarter panels to match the front and open up wheel well arches for 38" tires when airbags are deflated.

-Rear inner wheel house covers built to create a factory look that rivet into place.

-Front fenders had the radius adjusted at the front corners for tire clearance.

-Rear barn doors installed using hidden hinges.

-Tail light housings completely reworked to what they should have looked like from the factory in order to blend with rear door body lines.

-Inner accessible doghouse under the dash for the Ramjet 502 which was pushed back 7" and dropped 4" to fit under the cowl. Also to correct front to rear weight bias and help the center of gravity.

-Firewall was pushed back 1" and rebuilt smooth from fresh material. The ugly steering orbital was tucked up out of sight.

-Utilized the original 3/16" thick bumpers, smoothed them, and then painted deep black.

Interior:

-4 original bench seat frames were repaired and custom foam cushions built and wrapped in original style black vinyl. All 4 Seat backs are bolted directly to the roll cage to avoid further damage and improve safety.

-Carpet is Original 1966 style black

-4 point harnesses for all 7 passengers. Belts are traditional size black belts for a less racy appearance while being anchored to the cage.

-90 degree bell crank brake booster pedal assembly mounted under the dash with a line lock.

-Rear wood floor removed, .120" plate 6061 aluminum floor riveted to tubular chassis and bolted to original wood floor mounts. Bottoms of the floor aluminum are polished for a "classy" under chassis look in contrast with the gloss black tubing.

-Additional section of a factory hood "V" welded into the center of the dash.

-Dash has many modifications: round vents welded into it, speaker grill removed, tweeter pods installed, gauge cluster smoothed and Auto Meter gauges installed.

-Center floor console built into chassis design for strength, airbag switches, and gauges.

-Fiberglass sub-woofer box and amp boxes that cover the rear wheel wells. As well as fiberglass door pods with matching hood "V".

-All interior caging welds have been ground smooth before paint.

-Dynomat EVERYWHERE. Including inside the rear quarter panels inner and outer skins.

-new limousine black tinted glass on all windows
