Description of 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

If only I had the Protect-o-Plate or the build sheet. but I don't. I know this is not a real COPO. but it certainly is a special Camaro. I have proof that the heavy duty M22 Muncie four speed is original to this car. It is stamped with a partial vin. There is an aluminum bellhousing with 11" Zoom HD clutch and pressure plate. I also have identified the rear axle to be a 12 bolt. 4:10 heavy duty posi-traction built for a 1969 Camaro. So it looks to me that this was a high performance car from the beginning. It has only accumulated 79. 30 actual miles. This car began life at the Los Angeles GM plant on Van Nuys boulevard. It has always been Rallye Green with the black custom bucket seat interior. It now has a hopped up 1972 454 power plant that is dressed to look like a 427. It has roller rockers and poly locks. Competition Cam. HD springs and 781 oval port heads. A Holley 4346 carburetor feeds the beast. It is 11:1 compression. Did this car originally have the steel cowl induction hood? Did it wear body colored steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps? I know it wasn't a real COPO. but it sure could have been a high performance 396 car. I am not smart enough to go further. All I can tell you about is what I have today. This is a very solid car. I do not see signs of body repair or corrosion. The paint shows very nicely. The floors and trunk pan are very nice. The frame is tied. That is a good thing. considering the power under the hood. Without really trying. this car will spin the tires hitting fourth gear. The BFG radial TA's wrapped around 1969 XT wheels are the correct size. but just aren't enough to handle the power. I can tell that larger tires were once mounted on this car. as the rear wheel opening lips have been rolled for clearance. The interior is very original and very nice. There is a Sun tach and Stewart-Warner gauges in place to monitor performance. Other than those. and an aftermarket stereo. it is very original. and nice inside the car. As mentioned. the engine is nicely dressed and the engine bay is sanitary. This car has power disc brakes and power steering. Both are certainly welcome. as the horsepower makes this car a handful. I am pleased to see cast iron exhaust manifolds leading into correct appearing dual exhaust. This is a wonderful tribute to the COPO cars. Most folks would not know it isn't the real deal. Obviously it isn't. or I would be asking thrice for the price. *Stamping/casting numbers* Transmission: (CASE) 3925660 (CASTING)P9A13C (Matching #'s stamping) T9L517209 Bellhousing: 389961 Rear Axle: (Date code correct stamping) BE1128C = COPO required Trim Tag: (ST-6912437) (BDY-VN239830) (TR-712) (PNT-7979) (11C J389) WI residents are required to pay sales tax.
