up for grabs is a beautiful 1957 Chevy 6100 tow truck. 6cyl 4 speed manual. 2 speed rear. I bought this truck of the original owner. with no plans of selling it, but I have way to many projects going on at my shop, so its time to thin the heard. original owner bought the truck new in 57, and had the body custom built how he wanted it. the truck was originally a factory v8 truck. it was replaced years ago for unknown reasons, with a 6cyl. when I bought it. it had been sitting for years and the motor was frozen. I replaced the motor with a 41k mile motor out of a 57 chevy pickup, new fuel tank, starter, carb, ect: it has a pto driven winch that is not currently hooked up, but the hand crank boom works perfect. its has a brand new brake master/booster mounted. I replaced the front brake lines, but it still needs the main rear line done, all the fluids have been changed. as it sits it runs great, clutch works perfect, and it shifts with no issues. I have driven it around the neighborhood, using the handbrake to stop. I replaced the original wheels with a rare set of 6 lug 22.5 alcoas. the fit perfect with no rubbing issues. the body/paint is 100% original, not faux patina. this is a real deal truck that was used to earn a living until the day it was parked. the truck has some rot on some spots that's easily fixable in some superficial places. the cab roof has no rot, the windshield does not leak, nor does the rear window. the bench seat has a rip or 2. the dash paint shines great. please note the pictures show the drivers door panel missing, and the gauges missing also. I removed the door panel to replace the door window that was cracked. the panel will be installed before the auction ends. the gauges were removed for cleaning purposes. I have some spare and extra parts that will go with the truck along with a brand new (painless) wiring kit that needs to be installed, the factory wiring was old and brittle and has been removed. I have just the ignition system wired up to start and move the truck. the is a one time auction. if it does not meet the reserve it will not be relisted. I have had this truck a long time, and has so much local history, I would rather keep it. PLEASE NOTE I've describe this truck to the best of my ability, so you know exactly what you are buying, serious buyers can email me their phone numbers, and I will gladly call you to answer any questions you may have; do not bid unless you intend to pay for it, deposit required immediately after auction, balance to be paid within 24 hours, I have plenty of space to store it until you can arrange shipping RHODE ISLAND does not offer titles on vehicles this old. you will receive the last registration certificate and a notarized bill of sale. it states on the rhode island dmv website, that the vehicle registration shall serve as the title on vehicles pre 2001, I have never had an issue selling a vehicle out of state, and you should have no issues registering it in your state.
