Retains its Full Classic appearance but has been updated with Chevy V8, power everything, dual A/C, etc.for daily driving pleasure. Considered tobe thegrandest of all post war American limousines.

Only 650 of these great automobiles were built from 1946 through 1947. The Chrysler Crown Imperial C40 Formal Limousine is a Full Classic as defined by the Classic Car Club of America, but for the purist it no longer meets that criteria because of the updates, rather it still has the "look" of aFull Classic for those individuals who want to be the only "classic" on the road cruising along with new car comforts,it starts with the first turn of the key, drives all day long athighway speeds with "thumbs up" from everyone, with the dual A/Ckeeping your passengers coolin most any weather.

Parked in front of Rolls Royce, Bentleys, Ferraris, etc.at restaurants and social functions when valet parked. We've had a lot of fun with the Chrysler but space is at a premium and too many other incoming restoration projects nearing completion mean the Chrysler must find a new home.

Over $50,000 investedon an incredibly nice original rust free Imperial. The Classic appearance has been maintained with updated mechanics including a factory new crate delivered “Mr. Goodwrench” 350 Chevrolet V-8 engine, automatic transmission, power assisted steering, front and rear dual air conditioning, stereo system, power division window, etc.

The Imperialhas only logged approximately5,000 miles since its 2006 restoration. The Odometer shows 32,000 miles and judging from the overall condition it appears to be the original mileage. The undercarriage is original so you can see everything, nothing has been "covered up".

The wheel wells, floorboards, engine bay, trunk, and undercarriage are original and clean with no rust, with very presentable original Chrysler "Military Blue" paint when restored, except one tiny surface rust spotnoted below. This car was likelyalways garaged and meticulously cared for since new as can be seen in the undercarriage and inner fender well photos and its overall condition.

The chrome and stainless steel trimis very nice. All new rubber door and other seals were replaced during restoration. It has radial white wall tires and the original Chrysler hubcaps. The carpet, headliner and upholstery were all redone during the restoration. Folding “opera” or “jump” seats are a special feature of the Crown Imperial Limousine, a true Briggs bodied limousine, not a sedan. New gauges have been installed below the center of the dash for absolute driving accuracy, the original speedometer and odometer are operational. The hydraulic division window operates smoothly. Dual air conditioning and heat can be controlled in both front and rear. The Imperial has an AM/FM/CD Stereo with front and rear speakers. The vacuum operated windshield wipers were converted to the more efficient electrical type.

What can you buy today at thisvalue that is as elegant and capable ofdaily driving, cruising to restaurants, participating in touring events, or car shows? When touring you'll be cruising along in air-conditioned comfort with plenty of power left over while other "classic" drivers worry about overheated passengers and engines. I know the feeling, I own Classics and most are trailer queens as a result of those realities.

Critical comments. I am used to show restorations, having participated in and won classic car and wooden boat shows over the years, so my comments may betoocritical, but here there are . . . .

This was a professional restoration for daily driving comfort. It was intended for personal use and occasionally used in weddings. While it is very presentable and could be shown with pride, it is not a show car, functionality and comfort having been primary goals. I note one of the speaker covers is off in the photos, I believe it is under the seat and simply needs to be reinstalled. The interior wood and trim are in original unrestored condition. The paint has a minor few nicks and scratches, but no dents or dings. It has one small dime sized rust spot on the bottom forward edge of the passenger door, so small I keep forgetting to touch it up. It is regularly maintained by on site professionals and starts right up every time the key is turned.

For the purest . . . . Yes, it is a "Resto Mod', restored and modified for present day use, it is for those of us who enjoy theappearanceand elegance of a Classic, but the ease, power and comfort of a present day drivable automobile, it is a real pleasure to drive,my wife can even drive it with ease although she prefers sitting in the back and being chauffeured. Because of the updated modifications it is technically no longer a CCCA Full Classic, but it sure looks like one.

A Chrysler Crown Imperial Limousine chauffeured Elizabeth Taylor and first husband Nicky Hilton on their wedding day in 1950. Could this be the one?
