Description of 1976 Datsun Other |
This is a great candidate to enjoy as is or to restore to your expectation. It is a 1976 Datsun 710 4 door sedan. known as "Notchback". It was advertised as a 711. because there is a difference between the two "710" 4 door vehicles. This car has more room in the passenger cabin with a long roofline. I believe this was originally a taxi fleet vehicle. possibly from Canada. as it has a plugged hole in the trunk and roof where signs would have been mounted. I am selling it as is with all defects noted and captured to the best of my ability. I only hosed the leaves and dirt off the car for the pictures. There was no dress up or detailing. no attempt to hide defects. I like to start with the shortcomings of the vehicle myself. so here they are:*There is rust. I have seen worse. and I can say that is very well centralized to certain parts of the car. I will tell you the rust is in the jam of the back doors. the bead of trunk lip on the trunk lid. and in the rear wheel well of the rear quarter panel. The rust goes clear through creating a hole in the quarters. *The tires are not perfect. I know they were used tires that were put onto it. but the wear the tires show indicated that it either will need new suspension and steering components or just an alignment. It does come with 2 extra mounted snow tires. *The exhaust system needs the muffler put back on to be complete. *The interior has significant splitting and sun damage. Nothing different then my other 7 Datsuns. *The wipers are not operating at this time. I don't know if its electrical or mechanical. Now for the best parts:*This is a real rare car. And it runs and drives. Reliably. plus wonderful on gas. I've driven it on several 500 mile round trips with no fear. It will pass other cars on the highway with it's simple but strong 4 speed transmission. I get between 31 and 35 miles to the gallon on those trips. I let the car sit for months at a time. and it always fires right up after the gas reaches the carb. *It has a brand new OEM radiator installed and included. The radiator has the option to hook up lines as an oil cooler (Specifically an auto transmission)*The car is upgraded with a weber 32/36 carburetor in excellent performance condition. Tuned well. *The car is upgraded with a Mallory electronic ignition system. no flaws and wonderful performance there. *All glass is in good shape. goes up and down with ease. *All doors open and close and lock/unlock by knob and key as well perfectly. *The motor has good even compression on all cylinders. and a fresh head gasket set and seals. there is no burning or leaking of oil. I believe the motor is a low mileage replacement from japan in the 80's because of it's gold color. but I can only speculate. The valve train was set and dialed in to provide the best performance. So thank you for looking and bidding on my rare car. I have enjoyed it and had great plans for it. however. I bought a house and the house needs a roof.
