Description of 1939 Dodge Street Rod

This car was built in Pigeon Forge in 2000 by "Desoto Dave" a well known local guy.

The front suspension was swapped out with a Mustang II rack and pinion with disc brakes, this is a common upgrade to older street rods. The motor was a 350 Chevy mated to a Turbo 350 and a Chrysler Dana differential air conditioning was also added. The front brakes are Disc and Drum on the rear. The steering column is from a Monte Carlo as are the Bucket seats. The complete interior was done in a tweed including the door panels. The Radio leaves a little to be desired.

I bought the car with 28,000 miles and shortly after developed a leak in the # 5 cylinder. I replaced the intake gaskets and still had the leak and still had the same issue.

I then ordered a GM Factory crate motor 350 cu in. I had the starter and alternator rebuilt at local shop. I ordered a new intake manifold water pump and pully, Delco AC fuel pump, coolant hoses, fan belts, MSD ignition, valve covers and Misc. trim parts. The Turbo 350 Trans was swapped out for a Rebuilt 700R4 4-speed automatic. The drive shaft was modified to fit and the u joints changed. A Cruise control was added to ease Highway driving. The Tires and Shocks were replaced at 30000 miles .

There are about 7000 miles on the upgrades to the car its been to Alabama on two separate trips and several trips into Michigan and around Ohio. This has been a trouble free car since the work was done.
