Description of 1989 Dodge Dakota --

1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota Same Owner Since 1990 One Year Only Vehicle, #935 of Only 1,475 Total Built 83,650 Miles From New 5.2L 318ci V8 / 4spd Automatic Transmission Exceptional Condition Clean Carfax - Inquire for Scan VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 1B7FL96Y0KS118141 Engine: KN652001054 We purchased this fantastic Shelby Dakota from a gentleman in Wisconsin who had owned the truck for the last 29 years. He bought the truck when it was only about a year old, and has babied it ever since. He did put miles on it, about... 80k over the course of his lengthy ownership, but maintained and stored the vehicle with utmost care. This is an interesting truck not just because of the outstanding condition, but because of its rarity. The Shelby Dakota was only offered for one year, 1989, and only 1,475 were produced during that time. Only 995 of which were red. The recipe was essentially this: Dodge's compact pickup, the Dakota, but with the Ram's 5.2L 318ci V8 dropped in, and a boatload of Shelby branding inside and out. As it sits now, this truck is an extraordinarily clean, in-need-of-nothing example that is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the truck is covered in detail. Blemishes are all shown close up and under direct sunlight. There are very, very few blemishes. Imperfections include a small scuff inside the bed, fading on the BOSCH fog light covers, as well as some very minor chipping on the lower portion of the fender flares. Overall, extremely impressive and undoubtedly show-quality. - The truck was repainted once in 2009 and, according to the long-term owner, it didn't really need it. The graphics were starting to show some age, so he figured if he were going to address those, he may as well have the whole truck done. Paint was done to a very high standard and truly appears as-factory. No run, dust under the paint, or anything like that. - Bumpers and black plastic pieces show very little for age. No greying, fading, discoloring. This truck has always been garage-kept and it shows. - Glass is all clear and crack-free, as are light lenses. No wiper streaks or chips. - Wheels were sent out and refinished in 2009 and remain in excellent shape. No curb rash, damage, or oxidation. Tires are in nice shape as well, with the DOT number indicating they were manufactured in 2009. Tons of tread remaining, no dryness. - Bed is extremely clean. This truck was seldom used for actual truck duties. No significant dings or damage in the bed. There is one very light scuff on the passenger wheel cover in the bed, and there is a photo of it in the listing. - Panel fitment is excellent all the way around, doors open and close nice and smoothly. Interior: - Again, please defer to the photos and video. Interior is in impressive shape. Imperfections include a depression in the driver's armrest, a wonky fuel gauge, and three little dots in the velour on the driver's seat bottom. Very much a time-capsule. - Seats are excellent. No burst seams, tears, stains. Outer bolsters are even clean. - Carpet is in great shape throughout. No discoloring or fraying. Still nice and plush. Car will also come with a set of red floormats. - Dash is in great shape. There is a tiny, tiny partial crack at the corner of the defrost vent on the far passenger's side, but the dash is mint aside from that. No warping, discoloring, or damage. - Odometer reads 83,657 and is functional and accurate. All other gauges are functional with the exception of the fuel gauge. The previous owner had the fuel sending unit replaced a few years ago, and the needle began jumping around following that. He has been just using the trip meter and refilling every 250 or so miles since. - AM/FM/Cassette radio is functional. Fan, heat, and air conditioning are all functional. - The SHELBY branded handle just above the glovebox is actually two cup holders; push it in and they fold out. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the truck is documented in detail. It looks great underneath. Garage-kept, adult-owned, and it shows. Very much structurally sound. No through rust whatsoever, hardly even any surface rust to note. Exhaust was replaced ten years ago. - Maintenance light on the dash stays illuminated. We have had the truck thoroughly looked over by mechanic we know and trust, and he confirmed that it is just a weird electrical bug and not an indication of an actual mechanical issue. The truck runs and drives phenomenally well, and we wouldn't hesitate for a second to fly in and drive it across the country. - Truck starts right up without fail, idles cool and steady, pulls hard through the gears, shifts nice and smoothly, and brakes straight and effectively. This little truck moves! With any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing, please reach out to Jake at 773-273-8257.
