Description of 1928 Ford Model A Tudor

Wow. This Is One Sweet Little Hot Rod !!!! All Henry Ford Steel 1928 Model A Tudor Sedan Street Rod ____ The Right Look !!! The Right Stance !!! The Right Stuff !!! ______ I have been at this Street Rod game for a looooong time. I had Hot Rods in the 1960’s when I was in High School and had one of the TWO Rods in the school parking lot. I felt a little out of step. Then I attended the first NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Peoria Illinois and found out there was a lot of other guys just like me. It has been full steam ahead ever since. I first met this particular little Model “A” in a Farmer’s yard in 1971. She was a cherry old Gennie car. I tried to buy her but when the old boy saw the ’34 Plymouth Coupe Hot Rod I had driven into his yard. he refused to sell her to me. He knew what I had in mind. I longingly drove past this car weekly for a year or so wishing I hadn’t blown my first chance. Finally one day the car disappeared. I had no idea where she went. I finished college and went on to be a teacher. In the early ‘80’s I quit teaching and opened a small Rod Shop. One day a fellow named Dean brought in a ’28 Model “A” that he was building. The car needed body and paint which he could not do. He hired me and I finished the car. (Little did I know but this was the same car I had tried to buy a dozen years earlier. ) Dean and I became friends and attended many car shows and Rod Runs together. Him in his “A” and me in whatever I had at the time. Dean rebuilt the car a couple of times over the years and like all of us he got involved with a couple of other projects. Even though he was involved with other things he always kept the “A”. Last year he started a ’29 Roadster Rat Rod and decided to sell his ’28 Sedan. I heard about it and decided to call him up as I had never fulfilled my dream of having an “A” Tudor Street Rod. I went to his house. made the deal and put my money on his table. About the time we were signing the Title I told him about the little Model “A” that got away from me some 43 years ago. He got a strange look on his face and asked me exactly where that car was sitting at the time. When I described the farm place Dean got a wry grin on his face. He then told me that he was the guy that had bought the car and that this was it. I had been watching him enjoy my Model “A” Dream Car for all these years and had even helped build it. This is an absolutely true story. I have been playing with this car all Summer. I’ve changed a couple of things and spent some time and money on her. The car and I have done a lot of car shows. Cruise Nights. swap meets. driving for dinner or ice cream and even just daily drive to work transportation together all summer long. She is a GREAT car. The car now has a little over 6. 00 miles on the current build. She does everything right but I am a fickle lover. As a car-a-holic I want to own every car I think is cool for at least a little while. I’ve decided to sell this car and move on to something else. This Car Is A No Nonsense Street Rod. She Was Built Using Tried and True Traditional Street Rod Technology That We All Know Works ! Here Are The Details; All “Henry” Steel Body. (Very Straight. Very Solid. Totally Uncut) 3. 8 Liter Buick V-6 (From a 1980’s Turbocharged Buick Regal) Turbo 350 3-Speed Automatic Transmission Aluminum Hi-Rise Edelbrock 4-Barrel Carb Electric Choke HEI Ignition Custom Built Tube Headers Turbo Muffs 4” Dropped 1932 Ford Front Axle ’56 F-100 Brakes Split Wishbone Reverse Eye Spring Tilt Steering Triangulated 4-Bar Coil-Over Rear Suspension Mustang Rear End Steelie Rims ’56 F-100 Hub Caps and Beauty Rings Big and Little BFG Radials Mustang Bucket Seats PPG Deltron Rasberry Ice Pearl Poly Urethane Basecoat/Clearcoat Finish (Mile Deep. Smooth And Shiny. Wet Look Paint) Trailer Hitch ( Dean liked to take his camping trailer) AM/FM Tape CB Radio As I said this is a no nonsense car that does what she is supposed to do. The Buick V-6 is peppy. powerful and gets great mileage. The exhaust note is a soothing Purr until you make it snarl. The suspension is smooth and rides as nice as any “A” Rod I’ve ever been in. The body is tight. solid and quiet. The car is not perfect…. they never are after they have been driven but in my opinion the defects are minor. A chip here. a scuff there…. you know what I mean…little stuff. Most people see nothing wrong with it at all. I am fussy and I am in the business but I see no reason to change anything on this car. The Lights light. The Blinkers blink. The Wiper wipes. The Horn toots. The Gauges gauge. This is a good car. Is this car perfect? No. there is no such thing as a perfect car. Is this car nice? Yes. this car is VERY nice !! Is this a car I can drive and be proud of? Yes. I’ve always felt proud to drive it !!! WARNING !!! Do Not Buy This Car If You Like To Blend Into The Crowd.
