Description of 1968 Ford F-250 highboy

Totally awesome 1968 ford F-250 highboy custom cab. 390, ower steering, ower disc brakes, x4, speed. I acquired this truck from the second owner, ho only had it for about a month or so, ill his better half told him it needed to go. This truck spent 99.99% of its life on a chicken farm in red bluff California. This thing is amazingly straight, nd the body is so lacking in any rust, ts hard to believe. Doors, ood and tailgate all shut tight and line up nicely. The only rust i can mention was in the front floors and the bed floor is a bit rough, ut still totally solid and usable. I wanted to restore this truck while i drove it, o i temporarily repaired the few small holes in the floor with bondo and coated it with truck bed liner, urned out really nice looking, ut of course they should be repaired with metal in the future. The floors are still extremely solid in the foot well areas, s the rust was more oriented towards the sides of the seat than anywhere else. Like i said before, he body is 100% rust free, o signs of any bubbling, ancer, othing. Seems to have had 1 very old repaint, ut the original owner said the truck had been blue since he bought it in 1968, o not sure where the yellow showing through came from. That being said, he patina on this truck is great, y plan was to leave it alone and focus on the mechanicals. Truck has a 390, ot sure if its original, ut it was installed at the first owners request, s he referred to the 360 as a "dog". It was said to have been rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago. Truck starts right up with a few pumps and the choke set and runs strong and quiet, o smoke at all. Engine is a bit cold blooded, ut once warmed up, erforms great with plenty of power. Clutch is good and the 4 speed shifts smooth with no grinding or popping out of gear. 4wd works great. This truck is also equipped with power steering and power disc brakes off of a 70's f250. Brakes work excellent and the power steering really makes the big truck a pleasure to drive. The ride quality in this rig is great, ice and tight, ut surprisingly smooth for a truck of this vintage. All three gas tanks are in place, ith the in-cab tank and drivers side saddle tank being usable, he passenger saddle tank hasn't had gas in it in many years and should be cleaned out before usage. heater works on all settings.
Within the past 100 miles the truck has had all front end components and prop shafts greased, ew tires on the 16'' painted steel rims, il changed, ew exhaust from the Y junction back, adiator flushed, arb and timing dialed in, ew headliner, ew arm rest pads, ome light lense, oor seals, eat cover, teering wheel and pad, eadlight switch, n cab gas tank filler neck and grommet, nd biggest of all, the rear end and posi were completely rebuilt due to a howling sound, ave receipt for that. The only issues I can point out are the dash gauges and speedometer dont function, ut all the auxiliary gauges under the dash work accurately, ut there is no gas gauge. The truck is showing 91,xxx miles, ut since the odometer isnt working, hats no longer accurate, ut the original owner said it most likely has around 100,000. Overall this is a great looking, unning and driving highboy that can be used immediately and has great character and style, otally lovable truck. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, nd if you would like any specific information or additional pictures, would be happy to provide those as well. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.

So a very helpful e-bay member was nice enough to decode the vin tag for me. The truck is indeed a factory 390, uilt at the san jose plant in august of 1968. Original color was chrome yellow, ana 60 rear with 3.73 gears. Truck is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
