Description of 1965 Ford Mustang

For sale at Gateway Classic Cars is a 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2. This 2+2 is now a tribute to the legendary Mustang G.T. 350. In 1965 Ford shipped 562 Mustangs to Shelby American for all of the right modifications to make the car a stormer on the road courses sanctioned by the SCCA. Starting off with a 271 horsepower solid lifter 289, speed manual and a 9" rear end. Shelby American would install a high riser intake manifold, arger rear drum brakes form the Galaxie and disc brakes up front. Next were Tri-Y headers, ub frame connectors, ower A-arms, iberglass hood and scoop and a Monte Carlo bar in the engine bay to prevent the car from twisting during hard cornering. Finishing off the build included relocating the battery to the trunk, dding side exhaust with glass pack mufflers, emoval of the rear seat and replaced with a spare tire and Blue Streak Good Year high performance tires. Very few of the Mustang G.T. 350s were equipped with the blue LeMans stripes, owever most ended up with them as a dealer installed option. All 1965 Mustang G.T. 350s were Wimbledon White with Black vinyl interior. The end result was 304 horsepower V8 and a 3.91 rear gear ratio making this car extremely competitive. 1966 had a few changes mainly directed towards comfort. The car was also named the G.T. 350 as opposed to the previous year's "Mustang G.T. 350." The back seat was back, ide exhaust was gone and many more colors were available as well as an automatic transmission. The traction bars were gone and the battery was back in the engine bay. The hood was now a steel unit with a fiberglass scoop molded onto it. Side brake scoops located behind the doors were added and the side vents were replaced with glass windows. You could also option the car with a Paxton supercharger! The 1965 Mustang listed for sale is a tribute that encompasses many features found on the '65 and '66 model years. Painted in a striking silver metallic with dark blue LeMans stripes and a black vinyl interior. Riding on a set of 17" aluminum chrome wheels wearing radial performance tires. Power front disc and rear drums slow the car down in a hurry. Air conditioning will keep you cool in the hot summers. Power steering will certainly aid in maneuverability and an aluminum radiator will keep the engine cool. Shifting through the gears is user friendly with an automatic transmission. Inside is a more original black vinyl interior with a period correct tachometer mounted on the dash and an original appearing Air Conditioner mounted beneath the dash. On the exterior there are plexiglass windows in place of the vents, n R bumper that would have only been on the '65 R models designated for racing to allow additional air to pass through the radiator. There is also a 1966 grill. The '65 grill was a honey comb design whereas the '66 had horizontal slats. You will also notice bullet style side mirrors, G.T. 350 gas cap and hood pins for the fiberglass hood.
