Description of 1979 Ford F-250

1979 Ford F 250 Custom 4x4. 400cid. V8 engine - needs carburetor work. nbsp; C-6 Automatic transmission shifts great. Dana 44 front Dana 60 rear NP 205 transfer case. 3. 54 gears. Factory A/C - all components are present but does not work. Odometer reads 17417. It works fine. but not sure if it is 217417 or 117417 miles. I would guess the former but not sure. AM radio which works. Clearance lights. Good Floor boards. 16" all-terrain tires with about 50% tread. Look at pics. New gas tank. I came about this truck last summer. Had plans of restoring it. but decided I had too many projects. have to let this one go. Here is the Scoop. This truck has been standing for a few years. The truck starts and runs every time. but it starts hard and will stall when putting into Drive until the engine reaches operating temp. The previous owner put a different carb on the engine which has a manual choke. The low oil pressure light sometimes will not come on when the ignition is charged. It has oil pressure but needs a different sending unit. The previous owner told me that he put a new master cylinder on for the brakes but that they are still weak. Probably needs to be bled properly. The brake light is illuminated on the dash but the brakes do work. nbsp;they are just weak. When I first drove on the highway and hit the speed limit I sheared the pin on the oil pump / distributor drive shaft. Apparently a piece of old gasket somehow became lodged in the oil pump gears causing the pump to lock up and shear the pin. I cleaned out oil pan and pump. put on new distributor and everything is good. Power steering pump is weak. probably needs to be replaced. Look at the pictures (taken this last October) some corrosion along fenders and bottom of cab. Some small holes in box floor. Bad weather stripping on passenger door. Tear in seat. Truck is currently outside but will move it inside before it is picked up. I have described this truck as best as I can. if you have questions please email me. All in all considering its age. not a terrible truck. With a few minor repairs this could become a good ol' work truck. or hunting truck or put a plow on the front. many possibilities. Ford made a good truck in 1979. I would be hesitant to drive this truck long distances without addressing the brakes and carb. but the buyer assumes all responsibility once winning the truck. No warranty. I live in southern MN and can deliver on my car trailer anywhere in the lower 48 states for $1. 50 a loaded mile if desired. Again email me with questions and thanks for looking!
