Description of 1951 Ford Other Pickups Mercury

1951 Mercury M1 Half Ton Short Bed Pickup, very rare truck in beautiful condition. Desirable and hard to find 5 Star Cab.Selling with NO RESERVE to the highest bidder. Can assist in arranging shipping to anywhere. Please message for a quote. Alternatively I would have no concerns with the buyer flying in and driving this truck home across the country. It runs and drives like new.
This is a beautiful and very rare classic truck. Due to the much smaller Canadian market, Ford of Canada only sold approximately one tenth as many trucks as Ford did in the US during 1951 and around two thirds of those were Ford's leaving the remaining third to be Mercury's. So only 3,809 Mercury trucks were produced in 1951 from Half Ton to Three Ton and due to Canada's harsh climate only a handful remain today. So it is really quite a unique opportunity to find a 1951 Mercury M1 Half Ton Pickup with the 5 Star Cab.
This truck was restoreda fewyears ago by the long term owner and it was sold to usthrough his estate sale. The truck is a very solid and original example, thereforeit was an excellent basis for a restoration.
The unique 5 Star Cab Mercury emblems and tailgate are all original and in good shape. It starts, runs and drives as good as new with no leaks. The motor is the original numbers matching Flathead V8 mated to the original 3 speed column shift manual transmission and they have about 1,500 miles on them since the rebuild. There is no rust anywhere on this truck. The paintwork is not 100% in my perfectionist opinion with a few small chips from use. There are also a few of the typical minor dents that you often see on a truck of this era which I personally would have had repaired before painting. It has not received a $10,000 paintjob but it still looks great and is far more presentable than most classics you'll see at your local shows and may even win a few prizes. To theaverageadmirerit looks immaculate and draws a lot of positive attention as it does present remarkably well.
The interior is in great condition, i'm impressed by the condition of the original instrument cluster and how smoothly all of the gauges operate. The original radio lights up and turns on but I struggled to get clear reception from it. The original seat has been re-upholstered to a high standard. As has the headliner and 5 Star Cab door panels. The original steering wheel is still sporting its very rare Mercury horn button but the steering wheel rim has the usual cracks. These steering wheels are available new though from a few vendors so this is easily replaced. The vacuum wipers work as they did when new and anyone with any experience of these will know that they're not the most practical set up but I doubt that whoever buys this truck will be taking it out in the rain.
The hood, doors and tailgate all open and close very smoothly with great fit. The windows roll up and down very smoothly like they would have when new. All weatherstripping is good and looks to have been replaced during the restoration. The passengers side vent window glass does have a crack but these are reproduced so easily replaced if this bothers you.
Overall this is a beautiful example of one of the rarest half ton classic trucks. It is incredibly original and I would feel confident driving it anywhere. It would be a great addition to any collection or perfect for taking to shows. You certainly won't encounter another one like this and it will likely lead to many enjoyable conversations with other enthusiasts.
Please scroll to the bottom of the description to view videos of this truck driving and a full walk around with cold start. Please excuse my improper use of the turn signals, I kept forgetting that they don't self cancel like a modern vehicle and that you need to move the turn signal lever back to the center manually to cancel the signal. I assure you that they work correctly.

who we are and what we do

We are two brothersthat seek out original trucks and cars fromall acrossCanadaspecializing in vehicles from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

We started heading North to source these vehicles several years ago due to the severe lack of such vehicles in the US in recent times due to our huge car culture. Most American barn finds have long been found and tampered with by several owners yet North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good solid original vehicles waiting to be brought back to life.

We make these great vehicles available to the US market by importing them into the US and providing all required paperwork to acquire a Clear US Title in your own name in your home State.

We also specialize insourcing Mercuryand Fargo trucks and have successfully imported and found new homes for dozens of fine original examples.

We are passionate about finding the best thatthere is and understand that ourcustomerswantto see automobiles that have not been tampered with; the moreoriginal, the better.

Our inventory is regularly updated, as new finds are unearthed. If there is something specificthatyou are looking for, then let us know and we'd be happy to see if we can help.

The business we conduct is straightforward and honest. Whether you're looking for something that'sall original, a starting point for a restoration project orsolid bones for a custom build, Bison Brothers will deliver.
