1947 Mercury Half Ton Pickup, very rare truck in beautiful condition. Selling with NO RESERVE to the highest bidder. Can assist in arranging shipping to anywhere. Please message for a quote. Alternatively I would have no concerns with the buyer flying in and driving this truck home across the country. It runs and drives like new. This is a beautiful and very rare classic truck. Due to the much smaller Canadian market, Ford of Canada only sold approximately one tenth as many trucks as Ford did in the US during 1947 and around two thirds of those were Ford's leaving the remaining third to be Mercury's. So only 3,809 Mercury trucks were produced in 1947 from Half Ton to Three Ton and due to Canada's harsh climate only a handful remain today. So it is really quite a unique opportunity to find 1947 Mercury Half Ton Pickup. This truck was restored several years ago by the long term owner and it was sold to us due to him needing the funds for medical expenses, otherwise I doubt that he would have ever sold it. Since restoration it hasn't seen much use covering about 1,500 miles since completed. The truck has only covered 42,895 miles since new so it was an excellent basis for a restoration. The unique Mercury waterfall chrome grille and emblems are in great condition. It starts, runs and drives as good as new with no leaks. The motor is the original numbers matching Flathead V8 mated to the original 3 speed manual transmission and they have about 1,500 miles on them since the rebuild. The only non factory items on this truck are a Ford 9 inch rear end and aluminum radiator. Otherwise it is completely stock. I have the original radiator which will come with the truck if required by the new owner. There was no rust repairs required on this truck when restored due to it being a very low mileage well cared for example throughout its life seeing little work and no winter use. The floorboards and other rust prone areas are in perfect rust free condition. There is no rust anywhere on this truck. The paintwork is not 100% in my perfectionist opinion with some orange peel effects in areas and a few small chips from use. There are also a few minor dents which I personally would have had repaired before painting but to the untrained eye it looks immaculate and draws a lot of positive attention as it does present remarkably well. The interior is in great condition, i'm impressed by the condition of the original instrument cluster and how smoothly all of the gauges operate. The original seat has been re-upholstered to a very high standard. The rubber floor mat is like new as is the vinyl covered hardboard interior trim pieces used on the kick panels and around the rear of the cab. The original steering wheel is in remarkable condition with none of the usual cracks. The unique Mercury center dash piece and horn button are also in nice condition. The vacuum wipers work as they did when new and anyone with any experience of these will know that they're not the most practical set up but I doubt that whoever buys this truck will be taking it out in the rain. Other points to mention are the original Mercury hub caps which are impossible to replace are all present and in very nice condition. And I also have a very nice chrome rear bumper to go with the truck if the new owner should want it. Although when new these trucks often had no rear bumper. The hood, doors and tailgate all open and close very smoothly with great fit. The windows roll up and down very smoothly like they would have when new. All weatherstripping is good and looks to have been replaced during the restoration. Overall this is a beautiful example of one of the rarest half ton classic trucks. It is incredibly original and I would feel confident driving it anywhere. It would be a great addition to any collection or perfect for taking to shows. You certainly won't encounter another one like this and it will likely lead to many enjoyable conversations with other enthusiasts. We started heading North to source these vehicles several years ago due to the severe lack of such vehicles in the US in recent times due to our huge car culture. Most American barn finds have long been found and tampered with by several owners yet North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good solid original vehicles waiting to be brought back to life. We make these great vehicles available to the US market by importing them into the US and providing all required paperwork to acquire a Clear US Title in your own name in your home State. We also specialize insourcing Mercuryand Fargo trucks and have successfully imported and found new homes for dozens of fine original examples. We are passionate about finding the best thatthere is and understand that ourcustomerswantto see automobiles that have not been tampered with; the moreoriginal, the better. Our inventory is regularly updated, as new finds are unearthed. If there is something specificthatyou are looking for, then let us know and we'd be happy to see if we can help. The business we conduct is straightforward and honest.
