Description of 1985 Ford LTD

Up for sale is a 1985 Ford LTD LX
Engine: 1985 5.0 H.O. (85,000 miles)Trans: WC T5 5 Speed (unknown miles)Differential: Original 7.5" 3.27:1 Traction-Lok (250,000 miles)
This is my 1985 LTD LX that I'm finally letting go after about 10 years of being my daily driver. They only made about 1200 of these LX models in a 2 year period. The LX came with upgrades like a 5.0 H.O. E.F.I. engine, floor shifted 4 speed overdrive AOD trans, 3.27:1 Trak-Lok (posi) differential, huge front and rear sway bars, stiffer front and rear coil springs, bigger 10" rear drum brakes, and Charcoal exterior accents. This LTD is built on the Foxbody Mustang platform, so most all suspension and engine upgrades will bolt on with minimal to no modification. Here are a few specifics about this car:
  • The engine was replaced with a 85,000 mile, or so, 5.0 H.O. from a 1985 LTD Police car. It's a non-roller cam motor with a factory Ford 4bbl aluminum intake manifold, reman. 600 CFM Holly Carburetor, underdrive pulley, shorty BBK headers, and a pair of Mac Pro Dump mufflers. The engine runs great, it idles smoothly and feels like any other "stockish" 5.0.
  • The trans is a World Class T5 from a 1986 Mustang GT. The mileage on it is unknown, it shifts fine in all gears but it's worn.
  • I just installed a New Summit Racing replacement clutch and pressure plate along with a New Ford Racing replacement flywheel. It has New pilot and throwout bearings as well.
  • The actual mileage of this car is unknown as I have swapped the speedo a few times. It's about 250,xxx I would say.
  • I upgraded the front brakes to the bigger 1987-1993 style.
  • The interior is a little faded, but is overall in great condition. There are no rips in the seats, the seats and carpet are very clean.
  • The headliner is sagging a bit at the rear RH corner and my daughter recently put a few small dents in it while playing in the back (pics). The LH sun visor has a rip on the fabric.
  • The body is in good condition with a few issues here and there. There is a dent on the front side of the rear RH wheel well opening (pics). There is a weird convex shaped dent on the bottom of the front LH door (pics). There are a few other light scratches and dents but nothing too bad, please look at the pictures.
  • It has a set of 10 hole Mustang rims with newer tires, the rims have some light curb rash on them.
  • Here is a list of things that do NOT work: speedometer, rear RH power window, cruise control, A/C.
  • Here's a video of the engine running: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSJ4zNzHlC4&feature=emb_logo

This is very fun car to drive around town, it gets a lot of head turns and complements. This is the perfect car for that guy who can't fit his carseat in the back of his Foxbody Mustang. You can fit pretty much any drivetrain that can be installed in a Foxbody without modification.*. *
