Description of 1954 Jaguar XK

Up for auction is a really nice 1954 Jaguar XK120 Special equipment roadster. It's a California rust free roadster with a completely rebuilt engine. It is a numbers matching car with the exception of the motor. However, it is an exciting replacement. The car came from the factory with F-3270-8S and it was removed many years ago for unknown reasons. Believe it or not, I found F-3267-8S and drove through a blizzard to get the block. It was bored .020 over and fitted with new pistons, rings and bearings. The crank was cleaned and turned .010 and .010before reassembly. The head is a "C" spec (large exhaust valves) Factory Replacement with no number stamping. It is not a headwith the numbers simply ground away. It is not original butdoesn't get any better than 3 digits form the original power plant. The car has all new brakes, exhaust, hoses, belts, rebuilt starter and generator. It also has new seatsupholstery from BillBassett's Jaguar. The remainder of the interior was recover at some point in time and it isamateur job. Overall the car looks great. It is by no means a number one show car, just a really nice fun driver. It has some bumps and minor parking lot dents here and there from 60 plus years of history. The car shows some signs of a partial respray and possibly a light bump in the front. The car runs strong and stops well. Again it's not a trailer queen and you won't be afraid to just drive it. It could certainly be taken to the next level withminor body work and a fresh paint job. The spare wheeltray was crunched a bit on the passenger side near the rear wing. It was repaired before I got it and is not visible form the top side. In addition the driver's door shows signs of aminor mishap and appears to have a slight bend where it meets the rear wing. I am not pointing out all theflaws just trying to share the car's history. It's easy to find restored XK120 roadsters but not so easy to find one like this with such history.
