Description of 1951 Lincoln Town Car

This vehicle is offered for sale via internet auction to settle an Estate in Northern Virginia. The item is located approximately 20 miles west of Washington D. C. Item Description- Time Capsule-This automobile is reported to have been bought new by a family in the Shenandoah Valley that owned a chain of furniture stores located in Virginia and West Virginia. The family sent it to Derham Coachworks for the custom roof and rear window treatments as seen in the photographs. Photos of the car are shown from Derham's archives. The recently deceased owner bought it from the original family in 1975 with 55K miles and it presently has 74K miles. The car has had seat covers on it since new and has always been garaged. There is not a hint of rust anywhere on this car. The automobile is equipped with an automatic transmission. Power Steering and Power Windows. nbsp; The car has excellent body fit and gaps and never appears to have been involved in any wreck or collision. There is some slight cracking of finish-under flourescent lights-evident on the back trunk lid. The second owner converted the car to 12 volts and added a auxilliary cooling fan onto the radiator shroud. The car was driven very little in the last 5 years as the owner suffered from dementia and requires some maintainence/sorting from the extended storage. Car will convey with clear title. Estate is not interested in trades etc. We drained the old fuel. charged the battery and were able to start the car and drive it around the owners's property. The transmission shifts through all gears and the motor is quiet with no lifter or tappet noise. We have noted the following areas items that need attention: Car will "yard drive" and stop. Carburetor needs overhaul-accelerator pump is in need of replacement. "Donut" gasket from crossover pipe to exhaust pipe is rotted out. Power Steering pump is noisy until it warms up. Vacumn Windows all work however they are noisy. Gas Gauge not working. Radio and Wipers not working. Passenger side turns signals and brake lights appear to have bad or loose ground. One waterpump has a leak. This car appears to suffer no major mechanical faults-just issues related to extended storage and lack of use.
