1979 MERCEDES BENZ 300 D -10k MILES ON NEWLY REBUILT ENGINE (NOT AN AFTERMARKET CHEAPIE REPLACEMENT)- MY ORIGINAL ENGINE REBUILT BY THUNDERBOLT/CRATE ENGINE, HOUSTON TX.NEWLY REPLACED TRANNY,STARTER BATTERYWITHINTHE LAST MONTH.VACUUMLINE HAVE BEEN TESTED AND ARE OK. ALL ORIGINAL SHOP MANUALS ARE INCLUDED. I'M STILL DRIVING IT SO THE MILEAGE MAY VARY. UPGRADED GLOW PLUG SYSTEM FROM UNRELIABLE IN-LINE TO PARALLEL- WITH A KIT FROM MERCEDESSOURCE, ELIMINATED THE TROUBLESOME IN-LINE LOOP GLOW PLUGS .REPLACED WITH BOSCH PENCIL STYLE PLUGS. GLOW PLUG RELAY BYPASSED. JUST PRESS A BUTTON. HOLD FOR 6-8 SECONDS AND SHE STARTS RIGHT UP UPGRADED AC CLIMATE CONTROLSYSTEM-AGAIN WITH KIT FROM MERCEDESSOURCE, BYPASSED THE CLASSICALLY UNRELIABLE AC SERVO -CONVERTED TO MANUAL, BUT LEFT THE ORIGINAL PARTS IN, IN CASE YOU WANT TO USE THE ORIGINAL SYSTEM.(I WOULDN'T ADVISE IT- IVE HAD TO REPLACE ABOUT 4 OF THEM) NEW AC COMPRESSOR DRIER and EVAPORATOR VALVE 9/4/14. INTERIOR(ORIGINAL SADDLE TAN MB TEX) IS IN GREAT SHAPE. I REPLACED THE FRONT CARPETING DUE TO WEAR. THE PLASTIC SEAT HINGE COVERS WERE TAKEN OFF BUT I THINK I STILL HAVE THEM. THE PLASTIC MAP POCKET ON THE DRIVERS DOOR WAS REMOVED AS I KEPT KICKING IT WITH MY FOOT.(A POOR DESIGN) THERE IS A 1' SMALL TEAR ON THE HEADLINER CONSEQUENCE OF MOVING A PLANT. I PUT CLEAR TAPE ON IT-HARDLY NOTICEABLE, BUT COULD BE PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED. VINYL WORN OFF NEAR IGNITION KEY. BODY- PAINT MOSTLY ORIGINAL.FULL DISCLOSURE-HAD A FENDERBENDER ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO INVOLVING THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE-THANKS TO THE EXCELLENT ADVANCED CRUSH ZONES ON THIS CAR, THERE WAS ONLY BODY DAMAGE-REPLACED THE HOOD AND LINER AND THE DRIVERS HEADLIGHT/TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLY. ( I HAVE PHOTOS). CHROME PLATNG COMING OFF REAR BUMPER. RECURRENT RUST SPOT (about 2 cm- size of your thumbnail) REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEELWELL. I TAKE IT IN TO THE BODY SHOP EVERY COUPLE YEARS.BOTH HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR (16 YEARS).JUST NOTICED THAT THE RT SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR DOESN'T WORK AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. I'M INCLUDING A FLAWLESS REAR BUMPER, STARTER, MANY OTHER PARTS AND EXTRAS. ORIGINAL GERMAN STEREO RADIO WORKS PERFECTLY; ANTENNA MOTOR REPLACED. THIS CARE HAS BEEN BABIED SINCE IT ROLLED OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE .(I HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE IT) IT CERTAINLY HAS BEEN MY BABY, BUT I BOUGHT ANOTHER VEHICLE -I HAVE TO THIN THE HERD, AND I'D LIKE TO RECOUP SOME OF MY MY COSTS IN REBUILDING.NOTE: DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE, NO GUARANTEES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED YOU'RE BIDDING ON A GREAT CAR, A REAL HEAD TURNER, WITH A GREAT REPUTATION FOR LONGEVITY AND RELIABILITY...
