Description of 1988 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Tan

If you have been looking for that perfect late year R107 SL with the most desirable finishes of Signal Red andtan interior, this is your opportunity.

I purchased this car from the original 89 year old surgeon who bought the car when it was brand new for his wife. Yes, you get the original title, properly and legally endorsed.

This is car is truly spectacular in a multitude of ways. First, that incredible hard to find color combination. Next, we've got a car with a impeccable and neurotic service history. The service on this car is amazing. Always regurally serviced every 3 months, WITHOUT FAIL, at Mercedes Benz. This car is issue free, with nothing that isn't virtually perfect. The paint mils out to a perfect 3.5 across the board, absolutely no paint work of any kind. Moreover, the carfax and autocheck reports are spotless. There is not a door ding on this car! No clearcoat issues, no issues at all. The interior looks brand new, with virtually no bolster wear with perfect veneers and a flawless dash. Just sitting in the seats makes you feel like you are driving a new car. The 1 driver throughout this cars life wieghed a scant 100lbs at best. The seats feel and look new, but they are original. If I told you this car was a 10k mile car you'd believe it.

The original softop and hardtop are perfect. The original Becker Grand Prix radio is carefully packaged and stored in the trunk, the Becker stereo ismarginal at best, and this car has a aftermarket stereo that sounds great. Great car was taken to custom make a custom wiring harness as to not damage the original harness.

Thebonus to this car, if the above wasn't enough is that the timing chain and and rails were already done. If you buy a 560, don't buy one without the rails and chain done, the guides are plastic and degrade due to age, not mileage. They fall apart and I have seen MANY 560's jump timing and the aluminum engines literally become paperweights in a fraction of a second. This is a $3500 preventative maintenance item that has already been addressed. The motor mounts and subframe mounts were also already replaced and that is another $2500 repair that EVERY SL needs, regardless of mileage! If you do not buy this car, consider the aforementioned items and save yourself the expense, and buy a car with impeccable maintenance, none better maintained than this car.

Every fluid has been changed at it's scheduled interval to the mile, it's actually quite amazing the level of service this vehicle has recieved over the past 30 years.

The car includes all maintenance records, original manuals, hang tags, maintenance log, top spoons, and hard top carriage. all three original keys as well.

This car needs NOTHING and is ready to be enjoyed today. I will not give this car away insofar as you need to see and drive this car to appreciate it for what it is. a completely original, meticulously maintained 560SL.

If anybody would ask me, "what would you do to the car?" personally...the only thing that detracts this car from being perfect is some wear on the enamel of the wheels, from being cleaned too many times. a $100 project to give you the PERFECT SL.

I can assist with shipping, insofar as that is what I do for a occupation. This car is available for sale on other venues and this auction can and will be ended at anytime. The first person to see this car will buy it! Guaranteed. There is nothing to complain about on this car!
