Description of 1963 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 230SL

This is a very attractive 230SL. originally California car that is an older restoration and conversion from the 230 engine to the stronger and more dependable 280sl engine. At that time suspension and brakes were upgraded to disc brakes. The car drives fine and looks good. interior is perfect. Exterior is an older restoration and paint shows some imperfections in several areas but is solid and not dented. All chrome is excellent. I bought the car a year ago . sight unseen from a doctor who rarely used it. My original thought was to have a convertible to drive in the spring. which I did for about a month. At that time I had two garages for my cars and sold one of the properties in December. Somehow I bought 2 convertibles last year and just don't need this one. We now own 8 cars and only have garage storage for 5. The car drives nicely. has power steering. no ac. soft top is perfect. hard. pagoda top is fine on the outside but interior liner on the top is worn. We have many photos. On Jan-29-15 at 06:50:53 PST. seller added the following information:Several people have written asking for more details. I acquired the car a year ago and have driven it less that 100 miles. Health problems make it very difficult for me to climb in. so I don't drive it anymore. I do not know the history of the cat. but can provide to the buyer the Contact information of the prior owner if that is of any use. As I stated before. I purchased the car sight unseen on a whim. In my opinion the little chips and scratches which I attempted to show on the photos are an aggravation and if I was driving the car I would have it repainted. I expected a perfect car and it isn't. Guess that shows my lack of foresight in buying an antique car. I did notice a slight exhaust leak and a small drop of oil on my garage floor when I moved it outside this week to take the photos. I know nothing specific about its mechanical history. It starts immediately. runs fine. doesn't smoke and performs as it should. The tires are excellent. It is stored in a climate controlled garage typically.
