Description of 1980 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series Leather

1984 Mercedes Benz 500SEC coupe W126. European Spec. I had to list as a 1981 because of the EURO vin# WDB1260441A018309
So let me start by explaining why I am selling this car. I am a bit of a hoarder and grew up by the AMG Westmont store and spent many evenings in High school over there drooling over the SEC Mercedes. I think the flowing lines of the coupe are just art in motion. At the time I did not have the funds to indulge my passion. Later in life I did and I started to collect project cars. As of December last year I had 10 Mercedes SEC's. My wife and I also had a Widebody SEC built on Wheeler Dealer for us. In December we realized that since the show I had put less than 300 miles on that, my dream car, because I had all these SEC's I was trying to restore along with being a good father to a 4 year and 18 month old boys. We made the decision to get down to just 3 cars, so I started selling or parting.

This one was just too nice to be parted out. It is a 1984 (build date 10/1983) European spec car. It is 904 Midnight Blue with 254 Palomino leather interior. Options it has are ABS, Power steering, power windows, power door locks, rear headrests, Lighted sunvisors with make-up mirror, Automatic Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, front and rear headrests, heated rear glass, and power sunroof.

The car starts right up and pulls strong but only has reverse, 1st and 2nd so it might be the vacuum modulator but I am more inclined to believe it needs a full rebuild. Car needs a new exhaust. The speedometer now works but did not when I got the car so the mileage is unknown at the least it is 155K, I also fixed the clock in the cluster. I know the paint looks good in the pictures but it is thin in places (it maybe the original paint) and needs a repaint. I have gone through all the electrical and it all works even BOTH SEAT BELT PRESENTERS. I have no idea on the AC at the least it will need a recharge. It has some surface rust starting to show through on the passenger side please see picture, the front seats are both torn and need to be reskinned (heater on both works) The radio was replaced with a JVC unit with remote that is Bluetooth ready but I have no idea how to use it. We have had the car up on a lift and it is solid no structural issues. But please understand this is a project, but it is a GREAT star, it has the much higher horsepower engine (231 HP vs 185 HP) that was only available on the European version, it has the slim Euro bumpers which give a much cleaner lines than the park bench bumpers from the USA car, the color combo of the Midnight Blue with the Palomino is highly desirable and everything is there, you will not be stressing finding missing items. I think I am being very fair with the price, restored it could bring substantially more. Questions please ask.
