Comes with clean and clear title.

An excellent rare driver needing work.

General history for this model.

This is not the regular standard USA spec 450SLC. This is a European spec model not originally sold in the USA. The 450SLC 5.0 model was a factory Homologation Special to enable Mercedes-Benz to compete on the International Rally circuit. Less than 3000 were built between 1977 and 1980. This car is number 1091 out of 2,756 built. This model introduced the all-aluminum 5.0L engine (vs. the cast-iron 4.5L engine). In addition, the Hood, Decklid and Rear Suspension Arms are Aluminum. This model was Mercedes most expensive regular production model at the time (and was not sold in the USA). Racing versions of this car were the basis of Mercedes Factory Rallying efforts in 1978 and 1979. Competition history of this model included an outright win in the grueling 18,000-mile Sudamerika Southern Cross Rallye late in 1978 and high placements at the Paris-Dakar, Rallye Akopolis, and other World Rally Championship events. This particular vehicle has no known previous racing history.
