Description of 1962 Mercury Other

This is a terrific station wagon and not one that you see every day. It is a 1962 Mercury Colony Park 6-passenger wagon. I just love the taillights on this car.

I will describe it the best I can from front to back. It is very original except for one re-paint (in the original color) and new carpet. The color on the car is an off white (some of the photos may it look cream, ut it is not). The front bumper is original and looks very good. It still has a fantastic chrome shine to it. The engine is all original and has never been out of the car. It is a 390 V-8 with a four barrel carb and dealer installed air conditioning from 1962. The A/C doesn't work but is all there. The engine does not leak or smoke and runs great. I have put more than 1,200 miles on it this spring and summer without any problems, sing it as a daily driver many weeks.

It has brand new brakes all around including and stops great (power brakes!). There is no rust on the car except a little surface rust in the spare tire holder well in the back of the car. It has been treated and sealed.

All of the glass is excellent all the way around (and there is a lot of glass!). And the rubber around all of the glass is very good as well. The doors all shut solid and straight as they did when new. The interior in the car is all original except the carpet. The dash is perfect. The front seat has pulled apart at the seam in a few places, specially the driver's seat area. The seats are a vinyl white with tan trim, nly the tan portion has faded to grey over the years. I was going to re-cover in a non-original pattern but thought I would let the new owner pick his colors and pattern. The rear seat has no rips or tears but the tan stripes have faded to grey. The headliner is all there and in good shape.

The luggage rack is not original to the car I do not believe but looks great. The chrome is not perfect all the way around on the rack, ut you have to get really close to tell. It matches the patina of the car very well in my opinion.

The dark wood trim has been replaced at some point I believe and looks really good. The fiberglass light wood trim is all there but needs some touch up in a few places where the paint hasflaked off.

The car still has its original 14-inch wheels andhub caps andgood tires (off brand). Three of the four hub caps arevery goodbut one has a couple of dings.

The electric rear window works great from the switch at the dash and with the key in the tailgate.

Floorboards are all solid with no rust through anywhere.

The rear bumper is not as nice as the front bumper. It has a few scratches and dings and is not as shinny as the front. But again, t looksOK on the car.

There is a small dent in the driver's side front fender behind the wheel (it can be seen in one of the photos). It should be easily repaired by someone who knows what he is doing.

In all, his is a very rare and unusual vehicle. It is not a Concours car but a very presentable and dependable driver that gets tons of comments and thumbs up because no one has ever seen one like it. It needs nothing other than new seat covers (and it doesn't have to have that to have fun with it). You can fly in and drive this car home. For a price, can deliver it to you. I was going to take this car to Hershey next month and sell it (and it would go fast there for thousands more than the reserve I have on it) but I am not able to make it there this year with the car.

Email me through ebay with any questions and I will get back with you as soon as possible with answers. If you are serious about the car and want to discuss on the phone, mail me through ebay and I will send you my cell number.
