Description of 1969 MG MGC 1969 MGC ROADSTER |
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this rare MGC Roadster. These high speed, relaxed touring convertibles were produced only for a few years in the MG line, and were fitted with a large and powerful 2.9 liter inline 6-cylinder engine. This particular car was just purchased from North Carolina. It was originally finished in the handsome factory color scheme of Mineral Blue with black trim and top, with pale blue piping on the seats. The bodywork on this car is actually very good. All of the panels align very well and open and shut nicely. There are some small dents on the passenger door but the rest of the car is relatively very nice. There's no evidence of any outer body rust that we can see anywhere. There's some minor rust repair needed underneath as shown, specifically to the front of the floors, RH inner rocker, and a couple other spots. Paintwork is older but presentable only showing a few blemishes. Chromework and glass is overall very decent. The car's original black interior has been exposed to the elements and is in need of a straightforward retrim. Some carpets and rubber mats have been removed and saved, while we were cleaning the car. The original factory leather has shrunk up on the seats. The padded dashboard looks quite good overall needing only a single crack repaired in the center of it. The car retains all of it's original instruments and steering wheel.Mechanically, the seller indicated that the car was running a few years back. We haven't attempted to start it but the engine turns nicely by hand. I'm sure it would need fuel and brake work to get it going again and returning it to the road. The car includes it's soft top frame and an old soft top with the header rail, battery cover, jack, lug wrench, spare wheel, old interior trim, and tonneau rail set.Overall, this rare and desirable Grand Touring MG Roadster is a very worthwhile project and investment, and is finished in a superb original color scheme.
