Description of 1940 Packard 120 CHROME

UP FOR SALE, THIS CLASSIC WELL LOVED AND TAKEN CARE OF 1940 PACKARD 120 8 CYLINDER SEDAN. OWNED FOR THE PAST FORTY SOMETHING YEARS BY A NOW 92 YEAR OLD PACKARD COLLECTOR. OVER THE YEAR, HE TOTALLY DISMANTLED THE CAR AND STARTED A FULL RESTORATION. THE OWNERS MEMORY ISN'T THE BEST THESE DAYS SO I HAD TO RELY ON FAMILY MEMBERS FOR WHAT INFORMATION THEY COULD GIVE ON CAR.THE ENGINE WAS DISMANTLED AND BOILED. THEY ARE NOT SURE IF A TOTAL RESTORATION ON ENGINE WAS DONE, BUT KNOW A LOT OF MONEY WAS SPEND. LOOKING AT ENGIN, YOU CAN SEE NEW GASKETS, SEALS AND FREEZE PLUGS. THERE IS NO PAPERWORK ON THE ENGINE RESTORATION, BUT IT DOES LOOK TO HAVE BEEN DONE, ESPECIALLY KNOWING HOW MUCH TIME AND MONEY HE PUT INTO THIS CAR AND THE OTHERS HE OWNS. THE OUTER COMPONENTS, GENERATOR, STARTER, FUEL PUMP, CARBURETOR ARE EITHER "NOS" OR HAVE BEEN REFURBISHED. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT WAS DONE TO TRANNY, DOES LOOK TO HAVE NEW SEALS. THE CHASSIS WAS SAND BLASTED AND REPAINTED, AS WAS THE ENGINE. THE CHASSIS AND ENGINE LOOK BETTER THAN THE PICTURES SHOW, NOT SHOWROOM QUALITY BUT CLOSE ! THE MAIN BODY WAS DISMANTLED SAND BLASTE, AND SOME WORK DONE. IT WAS ON A ROTISSERIE WHEN WORKED ON, FLOORS LOOK GOOD, SOME WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE TO WHEEL WELLS ON BOTH SIDES. HE ALREADY MADE SOME PIECES THAT NEED TO BE WELDED IN WHEELWELL. THE REST OF THE CAR, DOORS, FENDERS, HOOD, TRUNK LID ALL IN GOOD CONDITION, SOME WORK DONE TO THEM. THE GRILLE COWL, HOOD, AND INNER FENDERS ARE IN GREAT CONDITION. ONE REAR QUARTER PANEL NEEDS WORK, ONE IS "NOS" THAT HE PAID $600 FOR. OVERALL THE BODY IS IN BETTER CONDITION THAN MOST OF THE SAME PACKARDS THAT NEED TO BE RESTORED. THE INTERIOR NEEDS TO BE RESTORED. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO KEEP THE HEADLINER WITH A LITTLE TLC. THE DASH WAS WORKED ON, NOT THE BEST WOODGRAINING BUT I'VE SEEN WORSE. THE GAUGES ARE THERE, AND IN GOOD SHAPE. THE CLOCK IS A "NOS" CLOCK HE BOUGHT FOR CAR. I'M NOT SURE IF ANYTHING IS MISSING ON DASH, THERE COULD BE, IT'S IN PIECES. THE IS SOME NEW WIRING AND CABLES BOUGHT THAT WILL NEED TO BE INSTALLED. THE HEATERS LOOK GREAT, I THINK EITHER NOS OR HAD BEEN REFURBISHED. THE INNER DOOR HANDLES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE, THE OUTER HANDLES WERE RECHROMED AND LOOK NEW ! THE FRONT AND BACK BUMPERS HAVE ALSO BEEN RESTORED AND LOOK GREAT ! THE BAD NEWS, THE CHROME GRILLS AND TRIM ARE MISSING. I DO HAVE A SET OF GRILLS IN MY OWN COLLECTION THAT HAVE BEEN RE CHROMED, THAT AM WILLING TO SELL SEPARATE. ALSO SOME OF THE GLASS IS MISSING. MOST OF THE MISSING PIECES CAN BE FOUND ON EBAY, OR ON THE INTERNET. THERE IS CURRENTLY A 40' PACKARD BEING DISMANTLED IN NY THAT I CAN GIVE YOU INFO TO. THE CAR DOES HAVE EXTRA PARTS THAT WILL GO WITH SALE. I WOULD ESTIMATE THAT 90% OF THE CAR IS THERE. THIS IS A GREAT PROJECT CAR FOR A FATHER AND SON, OR IF YOU HAVE A LATE 30'S EARLY 40'S PACKARD, YOU COULD TAKE YOUR BODY OFF AND PUT IT ON THIS CHASSIS AND USE THIS BODY FOR PARTS ! BECAUSE CAR WAS OWNED SINCE THE 70'S, THERE WAS NEVER A PAPER TITLE FOR CAR. I DO HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO TITLE THE CAR. BECAUSE THE CAR IS IN PIECES, YOU WILL NEED A ENCLOSED TRANSPORT FOR CAR. I WILL LOAD ALL FENDERS AND BOXES THAT GO WITH SALE. YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO COME SEE THE CAR BEFORE YOU BID, I LIVE IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS. STARTING BID IS $2600 WITH "NO" RESERVE. A $250 PAYPAL DEPOSIT MUST BE MADE WITHIN 3 DAYS OF WINNING BID. THE REST MUST BE PAID BY EITHER BANK WIRE TRANSFER OR A POSTAL CHECK THAT MUST CLEAR WITHIN 7 DAYS OF WINNING BID. WINNER OF AUCTION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING AND DELIVERY COSTS. THE PACKARD IS CURRENTLY FOR SALES ON OTHER VENUES ALSO, AUCTION CAN END AT ANY TIME. SOME OF THE MISSING PARTS MAY SHOW UP, FAMILY AT SOME TIME PLAN ON GOING THROUGH THE GARAGE THIS CAR WAS STORED IN. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.
