I BELIEVE THEY MAY HAVE SEEN USED ON SOME DUSTER'S BUT PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG. This 1973 Duster 340 is a great project car to restore/finish with it's Super Cool Sunroof Option, Matching Numbers Drivetrain and Outstanding Color Combination along with it's long list of cool options.... keep in mind that many of the 1973 Duster 340's were produced in plain colors like Brown, Gold & Greens and many were Bench Seat cars with Column shift Automatic Transmissions while the car in this auction is a Factory Basin Street Blue car with Factory White Bucket Seats & a Floor Console and the upscale White & Black Bucket Seat Interior with the Woodgrain interior appointments. This 1973 Duster 340 has it's Vin Stamped Engine Block, Correct Original Cylinder Heads, Correct Original Exhaust Manifolds, Correct Original Intake Manifold, Correct Crankshaft, Correct Original Oil Pan & Windage Tray, Vin Stamped 727 Automatic Transmission and 3.55 Sure Grip Rear end. The car is also very nicely optioned.... in fact I don't think it gets much cooler than a Sunroof, Bucket Seats, Floor Console, Chrome Racing Mirrors, Chrome Exhaust Tips, Power Steering & Power Disc Brakes, Rally Wheels, AM-FM Radio, Inside Hood Release, Trunk Light, Map Light, etc etc etc... This 1973 Duster 340 was partially disassembled by the previous owner but this was a running, driving car before the engine & transmission were removed and engine disassembled for rebuild and restoration. This 1973 Duster 340 has some rust but the worst of it was the Trunk Pan and the hard work is already started with a New AMD Full Trunk Pan installed and New Trunk Extensions...drivers side trunk extension installed and passenger side just needing to be tacked in along with the passenger side lower quarter patch panel. There are a few small spots on the front floor pans that were repaired and then painted with POR-15 from the inside. The previous owner believed in using as much of the original sheet metal as possible and I completely agree. Why install a full floor pan when they only have a small areas that needs to be addressed? The Metal patches were made to fit the rusted area and were very nicely done from the underside and the inside was finished off the same way and then painted with Black POR-15 and should last a lifetime. The Floor Pan patches were nicely fitted but again not concourse...welded and clean work overall. The Frame Rails are super solid from front to rear and the Cross Member/Torsion Bar area which is often a problem area on these cars is super solid with original TB3 Paint still showing.... the frame rails are nice. The Drivers side has a new AMDlower quarter panel patch installed and there is a New AMD Lower quarter Panel patch for the passenger side. There is an area on the passenger side quarter that will need some work but I don't think I'd go to the trouble of replacing the quarter panel unless you wanted. There is a small lower fender patch that was installed on the passenger side fender which appears to be nicely done and there is a small dent on the front of the passenger side fender which shouldn't be a problem for any decent body guy to straighten out. I am responsible for the dent.... I wasn't happy! The Passenger side Door is original and appears to be in pretty nice overall condition with the original door glass in place and it rolls up and down nicely. The drivers side door and left side of the body looks nice and solid although I'm sure you'll want to go over everything while taking on this restoration and finish it to your liking. This is a good start to a restoration and it rolls and steers so it's easy to move around. There are many pictures of the undercarriage which show some surface rust as several areas of the undercarriage and floor pans were stripped of paint and or sanded down exposing bare metal in some places. The Firewall and inner fenders are nice and solid. There was a small area under the battery tray on the apron that had some rust from the battery but a very nice custom patch panel was formed and welded in and looks very clean with the proper gauge steel....nicely done...butt welded. The Glass in the car appears to be pretty nice and as I said earlier, the windows roll up and down nicely with the rear quarter glass popping out as it should when the locks are released.
The car comes with the Original Dash which was never removed from the car and the original Dash Vin Plate is shown in the pictures below and as you can see, the Dash Vin Plate is very nice and clean showing the original Black Coloring with the Silver Silk Screened Pentastar and Chrysler Corporation...All looks nice, clean & original. I always thought you could tell a lot about a car simply by looking at the original Vin Plate on the Dash....just an opinion. The Original Fender Tag shows the factory vin number and the original options.... Numbers Match on the Dash Vin, Fender Tag, Radiator Support and the Engine Block and Transmission. I have not checked the numbers in the Rear Package tray but have no doubt that they match as well. The Interior still has a decent original Dash Pad and a Green aftermarket Metal Flake steering wheel that's been in the car for years which can easily be replaced with the nice clean and correct Black Steering Wheel that goes with the car.I should have cleaned the Original Front & Rear Seats, Cleaned & Installed the Original White Door Panels along with the Nice Factory Steering Wheel & Original AM-FM Radio and you'd be looking at what would be a very Original Interior with the usual wear. The Seat Covers and Door Panels should be replaced and they are readily available through Year One or Legendary Auto Interiors. The car will need the carpet & Headliner and these are readily available as well. Yes you can get the reproduction Sunroof car headliner! The Original Door Panels are shown in one of the pictures and are quite dirty from sitting in a garage for the last 20 years. I didn't bother to clean them up. There are a Pair of Off White Rear Interior Panels with the Woodgrain Inserts that go with the car that could easily be dyed and used for the restoration and they are quite nice. The cars original Floor Console will need to be cleaned up and new Woodgrain Overlay Kit would be a nice improvement as the Woodgrain overlay kits are readily available and inexpensive. The Original Black Interior Moldings are with the car including the Sail Panels and the Kick Panels as well as the "A" Pillar Trim.... some of these pieces are nice and others will need to be replaced. The car comes with a New Pair of Soft Seal Weather Strippings for the Doors which will come in handy. The Original Sunroof Parts are intact. The car comes with a New Complete Original Mopar Key Set for installing New Key Locks in the Ignition, Both Doors, Trunk and the Glove Box... all New Mother Mopar! The car will also come with the Front & Rear Original Bumpers which are good cores for rechroming or for trading them in for a Pair of Rechromed Bumpers and getting a $100 core charge for each bumper. The car also comes with a New Pair of Chrome Exhaust Tips that are shown in the pictures. The car still has it's Original Dual Exhaust Tailpipe Hangers and the Original Chrome Exhaust Tip Hangers with the Rubber Insulators are in place in the rear... pretty cool stuff in my opinion. The Original Instrument Cluster appears to be in pretty nice shape and the same for the Heater Controls.... Original Under Dash Inside Hood Release is in place along with the Option Map Light Mounted under the Dash. The car comes with a correct Original AM-FM Radio complete with the Original wiring and original Dash Knobs.... also comes with a nice Correct Black Steering Wheel...... There is also a beautiful Correct 1973 Orange 340 Air Cleaner with a New Cleaning Instruction Decal and a New 340 Four Barrel Decal along with a New Vacuum Hose on both the inside and along the bottom. There are also a Pair of NOS Original 1973 Duster Taillight Lenses in the Original Mopar Boxes...absolutely beautiful and the original Taillights, Taillight Buckets and the Taillight Bezels are with the car although they have seen better days. The car also comes with the nearly impossible to find Heavy Duty Cooling 1973 "A" Body Only 26" Radiator Mopar Part # 3673015 ... try to find one and you'll see that it's a difficult task. The car also comes with the correct Radiator Fan Shroud. The Original Code "N76" Coolant Recovery System is with the car along with it's original Date Coded Tank.... Dated Vacuum Canister etc etc... There are a set of "5" Nice 14" Rally Wheels with real nice Center Caps and used Trim Rings. The wheels shown in the picture are for reference as I have a beautiful set put aside for the car. The car also comes with a Pair of original Chrome Racing Style Mirrors with the correct Installation Hardware and Gaskets.... drivers side remote and passenger side Manual. There are boxes filled with used Taillight, Taillight Buckets & Taillight Bezels, Seat Belts... Fuel Filler Neck....the Original Driveshaft complete with Yoke and much more. The car will need a New Fuel Tank which is available here on ebay with the Sender at a great price. The
The Drivetrain appears to be all Original, The engine is stamped with the partial Vin stamping as is the transmission and the Casting Dates on the Cylinder Heads, Exhaust Manifolds and the Intake Manifold all preceed the Scheduled Production Date of the car... October 4, 1972 ..... The engines final Assembly Date is shown on the Left side of the Block just below the Drivers side Cylinder Head and shows all of the correct Numbers ... JM 340 R 40787022 which is J=Year/1973 M= Chrysler's Mound Road in Warren Michigan 340= 340 engine R= Regular Gas in 1973 4078= 10,000 Day Calendar Date Code Tuesday September 26,1972 and 7022 = 7,022 unit built that day. The Partial Vin Number is Stamped on the Passenger side Pan Rail and the Transmission shows the partial Vin Stamping on the right side of the Main Transmission Case. The Engine & Transmission appear to be 100% correct with partial Vin Stampings and all engine components are date coded correctly with the exception of the Carburetor although I have a Holley that is included with the engine. The correct Carter Thermoquad 6319s Carburetor is fairly common as it was used on all 1973 Chrysler Productions with the 340 engine & Automatic Transmission including "A" "B" & "E" body cars. The 6319s Carter Thermoquad Carb is often available on ebay and on many Mopar several sites. I've seen them under $100 for good rebuildable 6319s cores and actually should have bought one...oh well.....maybe I'll find one before the auction ends. Besides the Thermoquad Carburetor, this 1973 Duster 340 Sunroof car appears to be all Matching Numbers and all Date Code correct including the Original 8 1/4" Rear with 3.55.
The engine is disassembled but is a great engine to rebuild with all 8 nice Cylinders showing light consistent wear.... previous owner was an engine builder and thought the engine would need to be gone .010 or possibly .020 for a good rebuild. The engine has it's original Main Caps, Original Pistons, Rods, Original Camshaft, Original Rocker Assemblies, Original Timing Chain & Gears, Original Heads, Rocker Assemblies, Original Valve Covers, Exhaust Manifolds, Original Intake Manifold, Original Oil Pan & Windage Tra, Original Oil Pump, Original Timing Case Cover, Motor Mounts, Power Steering Pump & Brackets, Bolts, Brackets, etc etc Original Date Coded Power Steering Box with Original Metal Tag attached, Air Cleaner, Original Vin Stamped 727 Transmission and a New Torque Converter, Correct 26" Radiator with Fan Shroud, Original Coolant Recovery System..... there are far too many parts for me to list individually and I didn't dare take pictures of everything as there was far too much to photograph. There are boxes of used original pats in the Trunk and on the back seat and back floors at this time and I didn't take pictures of all of that stuff but rest assured that most of the original pieces are with the car. I took pictures of the parts that I felt were important and the numbers that I felt were important......the undercarriage was important to me and I thought it would be a main concern for many of you so I took plenty of pictures and although they are not pretty but they show a fairly solid undercarriage overall with much of the grime and light factory undercoating stripped.... much of the surface rust that you see on the underside of the car is from the removal of the factory paint, primer and or undercoating removal although there is plenty of surface rust on the components on the rear that could use a good cleaning.... Nice Solid Frame Rails, Torque Boxes, etc etc...New AMD Full Trunk Pan and Trunk Extensions, New Lower Quarter Patches..... a couple of nicely done butt welded patches on the front floors that didn't require full floor pans and were painted with POR15 inside the car..the underside shows surface rust on the butt welded patches.... nice clean job overall but not concourse work.... I'd clean up the work that's already done and finish up everything else before painting the underside of the car but the patches are nicely fabricated and have clean welds. There's finish work to do on the new panels. I would just figure on going over the body from front to rear and side to side...top to bottom and go as far as you'd like to go with the restoration. It's absolutely a Rare car that's worthy of the best of restorations in my opinion!
This 1973 Plymouth Duster 340 is a Real Numbers Matching Factory "M52" Sunroof car with a beautiful original color combination and a long list of cool options and I might have ordered this car exactly as you see it if I had the chance....ok maybe I would have ordered Air Conditioning and a 4 Speed if I was ordering it new..... here we almost 44 years after this car was built and it's still a Numbers Matching car and it's incredibly Rare to find one of these cars that has not been restored let alone one that has it's Original Drivetrain and White Deluxe Bucket Seats & a Floor Console.... Awesome car with a long list of options and a load of good parts that go with it. This will always be a desirable car just because it's a Factory Sunroof car but the fact that it's Petty Blue with the long White Body Side Stripe and 340 Call-Out on the Rear Quarters & White Rear Panel Stripes along with the White & Black Bucket Seat interior with the floor console and a load of options, makes this car special. This is a Special car in my opinion and with clone cars selling for stupid money and nicely done 73 Duster 340's bringing stronger prices than ever before, I truly believe that this is one of those cars that you can restore and always be in good shape as far as your investment goes. It's a shame that I even mention the word investment but it seems to be a major concern for some people. I buy cars that I love and I love this Duster 340 with it's Awesome Color Combination and Options.... seriously a Factory Petty Blue, White Stripe Numbers Matching 340 car with an "M52" Sunroof, White Bucket Seats and Floor Console, AM-FM Radio, Chrome Racing Mirrors, Rallys, Chrome Tips,.... way cool no matter how you look at it.
I just don't have the time to restore this car and I have family obligations that must be taken care of so this car is reluctantly being offered for sale. Please feel free to call me at 215-499-2693 and I will be happy to go over the car with you from front to rear and top to bottom..... I have many pictures and would be happy to send you pictures of anything that you'd like. Please check my Ebay Feedback over the last 16+ years and you'll see that I like Happy Endings, lol...... I like an Ebay Transaction to end with both buyer & seller happy and that is in my opinion, a good transaction. I like to describe anything that I've listed on ebay over the last 16+ years to be described as I'd want it described to me.... if that makes any sense. Call Tony 215-499-2693 with any questions or concerns. Please call me for the best description possible as it's much easier to cover everything by phone so I'd prefer calls with anyone that's serious. I will also return your emails through Ebay or even respond to your text messages although I'd prefer a good old fashioned phone call. I will answer all questions and phone calls to the best of my ability so feel free to email, call or text ....whatever works for you. CALL TONY 215-499-2693 215-499-2693 UP TO 11 PM e.s.t.
Your welcome to come and see the car in person if your in the Philly PA area or your welcome to have a friend or a professional auto inspector come out to go over the car for you. Inspections should be done before the auction. I don't have a lot of free time but if your serious then I will make the time to meet either you or your inspector to go over the car in person. Keep in mind that all inspections must be done before the auctions end and I only say that because of problems with deadbeats and the guy that thinks his high bid is the right to negotiate the sale price. The car is priced reasonably and I don't think you'll find a comparable project like it anywhere for the money! PLEASE CALL TONY 215-499-2693 IF YOUR SERIOUS OR WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT A BUY IT NOW PRICE .... TONY 215-499-2693
There are many pictures so please message me and I'll be happy to get pictures of anything that you'd like to see. The Winning Bidder should contact me within 24 hours and I would like a good faith deposit of $500 through Paypal. The balance should be paid in full within 5 days of auctions end with no exceptions unless we've other arrangements beforehand. Please call Tony 215-499-2693 with questions. The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping expenses although I know several reputable insured transporters who can deliver the car and parts to your front door at a reasonable price. I will pack everything away nicely. Please contact me by phone if your serious. Tony 215-499-2693 The car is in the Philly area and will be kept in the garage until you or your transporter comes to pick it up. This is a cool car that I remember seeing many times back 20+ years ago.... I thought it was super cool then and I think it's a great car and even cooler now! Please call me with any questions or concerns. I love talking cars and especially old Mopar Sunroof cars. I've been lucky enough to have owned a few Sunroof cars over the years and they are just so cool and although we see them on the internet, you don't often see them at local shows or even at the bigger shows for that matter. Real Deal Sunroof equipped Mopar Muscle car with Killer Color, Matching Numbers Drivetrain and an awesome list of Options. They are not easy to find and this is one that is worthy of a restoration and will always be COOL!!!! Thanks for looking and remember, call me if your serious and we can talk about the car... Tony 215-499-2693 I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime and for any reason without notice. I suggest that you contact me if your serious. This is the car to have if your a Mopar guy looking for Cool from every angle. Thank you.... Tony 215-499-2693 ps, It's been awhile since I've written or talked much about a classic Mopar Factory Sunroof car..... in fact it was my 1973 Roadrunner FE5 Rally Red with White Over the Roof and down the Front Fender Stripes and a Black interior with NO Vinyl Roof.... Buckets, Console, 340 with a Console shifted Automatic and Factory Air Conditioning ..... Survivor car and what I wouldn't do to have that car back or the 1971 GTX 440 Automatic with Power Windows and a Factory Sunroof...... 71 Challenger R/T Plum Crazy 340 4 speed with a Sunroof...way cool car with awesome options......1972 Fury Sport Suburban Brougham 9 Passenger Station Wagon with Hide-Away Headlights, 440-4v Factory Sunroof and all Options available on this car except side door glass power windows...strange huh?.... Power Tailgate Window, Power Wide Bucket Seats, Floor Hump Mounted Cassette Player Dictaphone, Police Gauges & Certified Speedometer, Spotlight, Bumper Guards, Dual A/C.... AWESOME ORIGINAL Car.... I've had a few Ford/Mercury ASC Sunroof cars and even some GM Original Sunroof cars..... gotta thing for Factory Equipped Sunroof Muscle cars... they don't grow on trees..... COOL COOL CARS AND THEY ARE GETTING RARER ..... Thanks again.... Good Luck Bidding and Call Tony 215-499-2693 with questions. REMEMBER THIS IS A COOL PROJECT BUT IT'S NEARLY 44 YEARS OLD SO IT'S NOT PERFECT AND YOU CAN'T DRIVE IT HOME.IT NEEDS RESTORATION.THERE IS NO WARRANTY.PLEASE CALL TONY 215-499-2693 & I WILL GO OVER THE CAR WITH YOU!!!

Date Coded Original Parts and there are so many other pieces that are not shown in these photos.... loads of parts ..stuff like this is tough to find and is often tossed out!ABOVE: New Set of Mother Mopar NOS Locks for the 2 Doors with Keys, New Ignition with Chrome Bezel and Keys, New Trunk Lock and Keys and New Glovebox or Console Lock & Keys... Nice to install a New Matching set of Keys with your restoration!!!ABOVE: This is the Woodgrain Radio ? Heater Bezel and although I don't believe this Duster 340 ever had this Bezel... it has the simple Black Bezel on the Heater Controls and the Aftermarket 8 Track Stereo ..... This would look nice with the Correct AM-FM Radio that this car was originally equipped with and is shown below... the car also has the Woodgrain Instrument Cluster and Console Woodgrain Top Applique' along with the Woodgrain across the top of all 4 Door/Interior Panels. You can also choose to install the Radio below with the Correct Original Face Plate and Knobs....either way it all fits and this is a real "R21" car Factory Solid State AM-FM Radio!!!! Just another cool option that I would have to have ordered if I bought this New!!!

NICE!!!ABOVE: The Dash Pad appears to be pretty nice and the Original Instrument Cluster with the Woodgrain overlay looks nice. The Aftermarket Steering wheel is Green Metal Flake and we have a Beautiful Correct 3 Spoke Steering Wheel to fill that spot and same goes the 8 Track Stereo in the Dash... we have the Correct AM-FM Radio complete and functional. The car will need the usual Seat Covers and Carpets, some interior trim although I have a bunch of it.ABOVE: The Floo Pan shown with a coat of POR15 that was done after a patch panel was formed and butt welded in....looks like a really good job.... Not a complete Floor Pan but it looks good and from the underside of the car, it was not painted with POR15 so you can finish up any way that you'd like... easy car to do in my opinion...not looking for a bunch of parts and its #'s Matching
ABOVE: The very Dirty Original White Door Panels and Rear Interior Panels with the Deluxe Woodgrain Tops.... These have been exposed to dust and garage dirt for the last 20 years or so... they would have cleaned up enough for me to install them along with the other interior trim and armrest and they would have looked passable but I didn't want anyone to think I was making it look like you could get in and drive it,lol lol..... Cool Panels and Great to have because your Reproductions just happen to be on sale right now and quite Cheap... you can compare them for yourself since these Originals are with the car. Year One has the White with Woodgrain Front Panels on sale dirt cheap... only this panel!!!!ABOVE: Here is something you won't see often... a Pair of Left & Right NOS 1973 Duster Taillight Lenses in the original Boxes with the Original foam gaskets. THIS CAR WOULD LOOK COOL WITH A REAR SPOILER OR SELL THE DECK LID TO A GUY THAT'S RESTORING AN ORIGINAL "J81" REAR SPOILER CAR.ABOVE: DARK LOUSY PHOTO OF THE NEW AMD TRUNK PAN FROM THE BOTTOM SIDE. I WAS TAKING THE WHEELS OFF AND PUT THE CAR ON JACK STANDS FOR SOME OF THE PHOTOS ... SOME CAME OUT WELL WHILE OTHERS WERE NOT GREAT.
