Description of 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT

Even today this car looks great next to modern supercars and the details on this car are second to none - like a time capsule holding onto some of the rarest and unique pieces of aftermarket Fiero history in the world.
This car contains the largest collection of rare and desirable parts known to the Fiero community. The over-the-roof scoops, dual throttle body intake manifold, side scoop rocker panels, and custom carbon fiber interior pieces to name a few. Most of the parts you can't find anymore, and some are one-off custom pieces, or exist from small batches like the intake manifold (15 in the world exist). I'm selling this car because I now have a lot of cars and no place to store this one. I love this car and I love Fieros but it just feels like it's time to find it a new home and close this chapter. This car will make some other enthusiast happy!I originally bought this car in Florida and drove it all the way back home to Minnesota without any issues. When I bought it the car was in great shape, and all I've done since then is pour money and love into it. This is my 9th Fiero and I know almost all there is to know about them. This car is not perfect, like any used 32-year-old car, but it's one of the finest specimens on the road today! Can you drive it cross-country? Probably. It has no major major mechanical issues and very few minor ones. Here's what I know about the car:*Original Options:1988 GT - The last and the best trim and features of all Pontac Fiero cars.Power Windows.Power Locks.Manual Mirrors.Power Air Lumbar (deleted but still inside the seats).Tilt Steering Wheel.Cruise Control (dealer-installed aftermarket).2.8L V6 (upgraded to a built 3.4L engine).TH125 Automatic Transmission (upgraded to 4T60 4-speed).Air conditioning.Matching door and decklid locks (working).Electronic decklid release.Fiero GT nose badge.Oil and battery aux gauges (working).Rear defrost (working).*Exterior Upgrades:Pop-Up Headlights Upgraded with JW Speaker 8900 LED Headlights.Clear front turn signal housings with white/amber switchback LED bulbs.Sage Fiberglass Chin Spoiler.IRM (real, not V8 Archie) Integrated Side Scoop Rocker Panels.IRM (real, not reproduction) Fi-Air-O Over the roof scoops mounted to custom solid panels.Decklid mounted hood scoop with red LED strip light.Rebuilt / Refurbished (better than new) original GT Tail Lights with LED bulb replacements (super bright!)Aftermarket ($200 a set) plastic rear quarter panel windows. The wheels are RPM R505:http://superiorwheelsandtires.com/rpm-r505Front and rear wheels are the same: 18x8 +35m and it uses a 1" spacer on the back to line up with the wide rocker panels.Front tires: 225/40/R18Rear tires: 255/35/R18Eibach 1" lower kit on all 4 corners.Rodney Dickman 1" lower ball joint kit on the front suspension.Rodney Dickman OEM style wheel bearings front and rear.***The stance on this car is PERFECT!! The sound system in this car is fantastic!White LED dome lights.*Engine / Transmission Upgrades:In 2018 I bought a 3.4L V6 pushrod engine from a 1995 Camaro and had it rebuilt. I have the build sheet that shows $5,777 for just the machining work and about 60% of parts used. I also bought a high performance camshaft from West Coast Fiero among other high performance parts. The engine was built to withstand a small turbo or nitrous with proper tuning. I had .020 bored flat-top pistons installed to increase the compression ration from 9.0:1 up to 10.0:1.Block was decked, cylinders were bored .020 over and honed. Lifter bores were honed to size. Mains were honed to correct clearance. Crankshaft was balanced. New bronze valve guides were installed along with oversized stainless steel valves along with a multi-angle valve job to increase flow. Heads were ported and polished and port-matched on exhaust and intake sides with before/after flow test.CC chambers increased to 53cc.Heads were decked.ARP Head Studs installed.Forged connecting rods with ARP 2000 and Clevite race bearings.Ross forged flat top 10:1 compression pistons.Viton valve seals.Manley valve keepers with 10 degree beadlock.New Durabond cam bearings.New Comp camps spring seats.New Comp Camps 10 degree retainers.New ACL Main bearings.WCF 1.6 Roller Tip Rocker Arms with new rocker studs.WCF Harmonic Balancer.WCF Cam/Crank Sensor Plugs.WCF Cam Installation Kit.WCF High Performance CAm "WCF61 (Lift = 0.440 Inches; Running Duration = 256 Degrees, Duration @ 0.50 Lift = 210 Degrees, Lobe Centers = 112 Degrees) manufactured by Engle Racing Cam.Eaton high performance hydraulic anti pup-up lifters.Mellings Dual roller timing chain.Mellings DamperMiddle intake manifold port-matched to heads, and fully ported/polished.Dual Throttle Body upper intake manifold port-matched to middle and fully ported/polished.Fiero Store ceramic coated headers.Billet aluminum custom dog bone engine mount.New alternator and water pumps installed at time of engine build.New 8mm Taylor Cable spark plug wires.MSD ignition coil.New distributor with upgraded ignition control module heat sink kit.4T60 Automatic transmission with 4-speed and overdrive.Cold Start Injector Delete Kit.Holley adjustable fuel pressure regulator.Fuel pressure gauge custom mounted to fuel rail.Fiero store sport exhaust with stainless exhaust tips (no catalytic converter).Throttle body coolant lines delete kit and custom thermostat housing (looks cleaner than stock).I've never put the car on a dyno mostly because of where I lived. The closest one was 3 hours away and I couldn't find the time. If you want the car to run perfectly and get the most power out of it I would strongly suggest working with a local dyno tuning shop and get the car tuned. I have some ideas of how to go about doing that to discuss with the buyer. Another option would be to do the popular 7730 ECM conversion that gives you even better tuning capabilities.*Honorable mention:1. The vinyl wrap job was done by the best vinyl shop in Minnesota, but it's still a vinyl wrap. There are some imperfections throughout but most people don't notice because they are so minor. The vinyl wrap is coated with a ceramic coating so it's super easy to clean and looks great all the time!2. Under the trunk cover, on the driver side there is some rust about the size of a dollar bill. 3. The car runs and drives great, but for the first 60 seconds after it starts up it runs rough. The exhaust smells like fuel so I think it's running rich and needs to be tuned to get the most drivability and power out of it. But overall the car is extremely reliable in my experience.4. I have a brand new set, in the box, of '88 Front wheel bearings, and '88 front 1" drop ball joints from Rodney Dickman that go with the car. When I did them the first time I bought an extra set to have in case they became hard to find.5. The center console skeleton is broken where it holds the stereo and HVAC unit and I have an almost perfect condition skeleton to send with the car. 6. The over-the-roof scoops are mounted to a set of custom solid corner vents with a 6" hole cut out to let air flow. I will also send the original corner vents with the car.7. I have a battery cut-off switch installed that I use to make sure the battery doesn't die when not being driven for a while. It's quite easy to use and works well. 8. I will be keeping the license plates when it sells.9. BTR is the name of my old company, stands for Black Top Racing. It's well known in the Fiero community and was in operation for many years. We were known as one of the best and most trustworthy resources for aftermarket lighting, and accessories for the Fiero. The BTR logo is found embedded in the vinyl wrap, and on all 4 wheels in the center caps.10. When I bought the car it had the OEM white paint job and I quickly had it re-painted Dodge Viper Bright White. I was looking for something a little more exciting so I had it wrapped in this white/blue/gray scene. The doors originally had the GT style ground effects so I found a set of doors that had the smooth style so under the wrap the doors are not painted the same color. If you were to take the vinyl wrap off you should either re-paint the car or install a different vinyl wrap (friends don't let friends plastidip...).11. If you look at the picture showing the driver side door jam you'll see a little rust where the rocker panel meets the metal of the car. This i ssurface rust that I always meant to sand off and fix but never got around to it. It's very minor and would be very easy to fix. The structure of this car is not rusted out at all.12. E-Brake doesn't work. Most of the parts are there but it is not fully hooked up. It could work if you wanted it to.13. The custom leather upholstery on the steering wheel is kinda scratched up on the bottom (7 o clock position) from little metal rivets on my jeans catching on it getting in and out of the car. The leather is super soft and really high quality.14. I have all the pictures in high resolution that you can zoom in on and examine even closer. If you want to see them please email me.
