this 1957 volkswagen vw oval semaphore is being sold with no reserve! high bidder at the end of the auction wins!first off this is one of the nicest 57 vws in the country, ultiple show winner!Hot vws magazine car, page spread, 1 pick at the las vegas bugorama out of 1500 cars.387 photographs of the belly off build, o expense spared over 50k spent.Stiftung Automuseum volkswagen certificate.full documentation. Up for sale is my custom 1957 VW Oval Deluxe Beetle. The history and restoration on this car is very extensive. It was professionally built by John Jones of Kustom Coach Werks in Grand Junction, olorado. John built the car to take to the Bug-In in Las Vegas, here he won 1st place out of over 1500 VWs! The beetle was also featured in Hot VWs in May 2004! A copy of this issue is included with the car. The article discusses the restoration in great detail, long with all the different companies and parts that were used to create this rolling work of art. John started with a rust-free 57' Oval from Arizona with only 56,000 original miles. Here are the details on the restoration: ~ the car was completely disassembled -- body separated from the pan ~ the underside, ngine bay, ams, tc. were all media blasted ~ stripped the outside ~ sprayed with PPG Orange Glow and Vanilla Shake, PG clear, et sand and buff ~ installed a 3 ½ inch narrowed beam with adjusters and KYB shocks ~ raised the rear spring plates = lowering the rear ~ Madson Upholstery installed TMI tan vinyl and oatmeal tweed seat covers and door panels, long with a tan mohair headliner and TMI oatmeal loop carpeting ~ Flat-4 Banjo steering wheel with Golden Lady horn button The car was then purchased by a gentleman in Colorado Springs and he continued to make improvements and upgrades to the car. I have receipts of over $9000 (see invoice below) which included: ~ new 2007cc motor (100+ hp), uilt by Randy Bowen at Sport Car Volkswagen Service Center in Colorado Springs, o it really moves ~ new 4 speed transmission - the transmission was built by Rancho Performance Transaxles in California and the specs are PRO STREET 4.12 ring and pinion, tock ratios 1st - 3rd with close ratio 4th ~ new disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear ~ a high temp finish (Chromex) to the header and muffler ~ powder coating axle tubes, an shroud, acking plates, tc. Randy has been building and racing VWs for over 35 years. Overall, his 57' Euro Beetle is in immaculate condition! Only 1435 miles since its restoration in 2004-2005! The paint is perfect with no rock chips, cratches or dents. The underside is in showroom condition. The interior excellent. The tires and wheels have less than 200 miles on them. The glass looks to be all original, ith the exception of the windshield. The pop-up blinkers work properly and are really cool. Comes with a new high-end indoor California Car Cover.
