Description of 1976 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

This is a very special VW camper. "Pea" lived in New Mexico until 2010, hen she was trailered to her new home in S. Florida. At that time, ith 83,000 miles, he new owner had the engine rebuilt. During the rebuild, e had all the glass removed, tripped the paint down to metal, nd re-painted Pea her original Sage Green color, ith a clear coat. He replaced all the rubber trim, nd replaced the front seats. After installing the rebuilt engine, e reset the odometer to zero. Since that time, ea has been driven 4,464 miles.
The original Westfalia interior was in pretty bad shape when we bought her...some of the cabinets had delaminated, he original refrigerator was not working, nd the sink/stove unit was pretty ugly. I removed all the cabinets and woodwork down to the metal, nd replaced with new birch 1/2" plywood cabinets throughout. Additionally, had new foam and German OEM fabric installed. You will note that the new interior is similar to the original '60's campers...in my mind, fter having owned 4 different campers, his is by far the most practical, seful layout. There's plenty of room in the "jump seat" for an ice chest, nd lots of storage elsewhere. She has brand-new OEM pop-top canvas, hich was installed after removing the top and the luggage rack and repainting them. She also comes with a brand new side awning, 450 watt inverter, nd two new batteries. The tires are about 5 years old, ut have been driven only 4,464 miles.
By the way, he only rust spot I found was a small spot near the rear wheel well, nd it was repaired. This is about the closest to a "rust free" bus you'll ever find. She has new rubber mats, nd the metal underneath looks practically new.
After noticing an oil leak from the clutch housing, took Pea to my VW mechanic for a repair. He removed the engine and transmission, eplaced the transmission seals, nd gave the engine a "once over". He found a few discrepancies (non-standard fuel hoses, tc.) and fixed them all. At that time, e installed new electronic ignition. As Pea sits, he's ready to take her new owners anywhere. My wife and I are selling Pea because of a change of plans.
