Description of 1971 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

Super Rare Factory 1971 Westfalia Dormobile SO69/7 Amsterdam original barn find. Original paint, no bondo, no welding. Gorgeous patina. Original unrestored survivor. Runs and drives good. Same owner since 1972. Great patina. 36xxxx miles on the clock. Tourist option picked up in Germany in '71 then shipped to Los Angeles California same year. Parked in 1985 till now. All body tags are present. Original special order Chianti Red paint throughout with fresh rub and wax, original glass, original interior (sleeps 4 adults), new correct Hankook tires on freshly painted wheels with chrome hub caps and new lug nuts, original spare tire, one key opens all doors. Dormobile mechanism and top material are in great shape and opens smoothly. The top offers great light whether camping or on the road. All camp kit cabinets, tables, are solid and original. Lights, wipers, turn signals... work. All doors open and close as they should. Originally optioned with Eberspacher BN4 gas heater (heater no longer present).
New battery. Good strong running stock 1600 DP motor with full flow external cooler oil system, new German fuel lines from tank to carb, rebuilt original German carb, new fuel filter, new vacuum lines. Serviced oil bath air filter. New Conti fan belt. Fresh valve adjustment with new valve cover gaskets. Motor starts right up and idles smooth. Good clutch, trans and steering. New front brakes with rebuilt original German ATE calipers, German brake rotors, new ATE brake pads, new Meyle brake hoses.
Good strong bones with solid undercarriage, solid rockers, solid roof, nose lip, rain gutters, rust free doors, rust free undercarriage, rust free doglegs, rust free torsion area, rust free jack points, rust free wheel wells... Both battery trays are intact... Some skin rust on floors, and parcel trays seen on pics. All cross members and edges are good and solid.
Clean CA title in hand with no back fees. CA blue plates, original owners manual, new skylight seal, rear bug screen, both louver window screens, vintage curtain material, original rear bumper with splash pans, original rear hatch emblem, original Bilstein jack and tool kit... included. All lenses are original German. Have video of motor running. Bus needs the gas tank cleaned out, it's sludge not rust. This bus is a real sweetheart looking for a loving home.
