Description of 1976 Alfa Romeo Spider |
Third owner of a well sorted early Spider that drives and looks great. I am smitten by the power of the engine and its incredible driving dynamics. It is by far the most powerful Spider I have ever owned. Perfect as a daily driver or weekend runabout/local car show special. Selling in order to fund projects around the house. You can buy outright or bid on a great running and driving low mileage Spider that has received great attention in order make it look and drive like a new car. The suspension is taught and the steering is an absolute delight. The engine has been upgraded to high performance standards that puts its power on par with modern cars. After spending thousands to make it look and drive as good as it runs. it is now a new owner's opportunity to enjoy the car. The car is accident free with a straight and rigid frame. Anyone who drives the car will immediately understand the value of owning a low mileage Spider. She drives smoothly and presents herself as a solid car with both driver and passenger comfort. as well as refined power and great sound. The rocker panels. lower fender areas. jacking points and floors are solid. The car was undercoated when purchased and as a result has no issues with rust. The huge rubber rear bumper was replaced with an earlier model stainless bumper that has some dings and small dents. It has headlight covers in good condition. The top is new and has a zippered rear plastic window for added ventilation. The car comes equipped with a like-new top boot cover. The speedometer and tachometer work well. All gauges. lights. heater fan. and wipers are in working order. Even the windshield washer system works well. The driver seat was reupholstered and the passenger seat repaired. Both are covered in luxurious lamb's wool seat covers that keep you cool in the summer months and warm in the winter months. The original floor rubber mats are in excellent condition. The gas tank was cleaned and treated with POR 15. The engine was rebuilt to European specs with no expense spared to make it a solid and robust power-plant. As built. the engine is putting out around 140 SAE horsepower. The cylinder head was taken to a professional cylinder head shop with the right tools do a valve job and correctly install and ream new valve guides. New European cams from International Auto Parts were fitted to the heads and correctly adjusted. The cams were the standard grind for a carburetor car. It has a new head gasket and gasket set. Early model year 2. 0L cast headers were fitted. The SPICA fuel injection was replaced with a set of Dellorto carburetors that are properly balanced and sound great. The Alfa has all new hoses. tune up parts. water pump. motor mounts. fuel pump. and fuel pressure regulator. The engine pulls strongly with no flat spots. nbsp; idles well. nbsp; and does not smoke on acceleration. deceleration. or consume out-of-spec quantities of oil. Oil pressure is excellent. The car drives great on superhighways and county roads. I recently completed a 500 mile round-trip visit to Largo. FL and the car ran flawlessly. The transmission has a good clutch with smooth action and no slipping. The transmission has no grinding in second gear when downshifting. The stock exhaust system is two years old and includes a Stinger tail pipe. The brakes work well with recently installed ceramic pads on all four corners. All tires (195/60HR X 14) are new (including the spare) and mounted on period correct Cromodora wheels. This is a great running solid Alfa that has had all of the right mechanical things done to it. All mechanical work was done by European Car Performance Service. Inc. . Stuart. FL 34997 and Franco's Imported Cars. 2201 66th St. N. Clearwater. FL 33764 that included front suspension work (lower ball joint). reconditioning of the drive shaft. nbsp; brakes. electrical system and lights. and installation of new rear end. transmission and engine seals and a full service including a brake and clutch fluid flush. This is a magnificent Spider that will stand out from the pack and provide the new owner with years of fun without costly repair bills. Just installed oil pan guard. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is also for sale locally. Please email me and I will give you my telephone number so we can speak about the car. Of course. it will be available for test drives or professional inspections. This is a rust free car. I am ready to assist with transportation arrangements or better yet come visit Florida and drive the car home. |
