Description of 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider |
1974 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000. Original owner, 0,470 original miles as of this listing. This car is being relisted due to a non paying bidder....I decided to drive her a bit more for the summer. My Father purchased this car new off the lotfrom Klein Foreman Motors in Van Nuys, alifornia on March 12, 976. (In 1976 it was not unusual for new cars a year or two old to be on lots, hen he took the car it had 19 miles on it.) 3 years ago he sent the car to me by carrierwith 45,905 miles on itfrom the state of Georgia where he had lived for some time, nd it mostly sat in his garagedundriven except for a few miles a month to keep her moving. I got the car and while it ran well and had just had the SPICA rebuilt by Wes Ingram before coming to me, went through it and had the following things donereplacedrepaired at 46,266 mileson 7/27/12 by Santo's Alfa Specialists or myself:
This car runs like a watch......like any Alfa I've known and as this one has been from day one....they can be a little finicky to start sometimes......I remember my Dad cussing about it when I was a kid lol.....but once she fires and warms for a minute she runs so smoothly and well...no synchro issues, hifts smoothly and cleanly, ll 5 gears and no popping out of reverse. Car doesn't burn oil but does leak a bit no matter what type or how tight or loose the oil filter is. I bypassed the heater core at one time last year so that would be on the agenda to look into if the heater is important....here in Southern California it's not an issue. Car is arrow straight, ever been hit, nd all original. Has ahalf dollarsized bit of rust in the floorpan behind the drivers seat but I see no other rust anywhere on the vehicle. Dad did have a lousy paint job done on this in 2010 or 2011 and it's not great but certainly the car turns heads everywhere and looks good from a distance.....you can see some runs, racksand prep issues if you look carefully. She DID get backed into at the shopwhile getting the SPICA rebuilt and the plastic baseon the right front bumper shattered. I have the original bumperette, nd all Stainless trim and lens from that bumper, s well as an OEM spare in need of refurbishment but there is no sheet metal damage of any kind or issue. The top is basically new, ut will leak in the rain a bit. The interior is in need....the Driver Seat needs a complete recover and the trans consolepanels could use replacing. The original 8 Track does not work but the sweet sounds come from that little DOHC hi revver under the hood. I love this car buthave too many projects and vehicles so it's time to find her a new home after enjoying her in the sun the last couple of years. The new owner could drive this car anywhere and enjoy a great running classic hand built sports car for show or daily driving, r go nuts with the perfect candidate for a concours resto.....you won't find many like this one anymore. Comes with all receipts....yes ALLas well as a few extra parts like fuel filters and eurethane torsion bar bushings. Car is for sale locally and listing may be cancelled at any time. If you want to see the car, meeting at the local PD can be arranged for inspection, erious inquiries only please. Feel free to ask any questions, will do my best to answer them accurately. Deposit of $1000 due within 48 hours of auction closing. Can deliver in Southern California. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! NOTE: IF YOU CANNOT COMPLETE THE PURCHASE PLEASE DO NOT F'ING BID ON THE CAR!!! Thanks lol.... |
