Description of 1970 Alfa Romeo Giulia GT 2 Litre |
1970 Alfa Romeo Giulia GT 2 Litre Stunning Bertone-styled Stepnose - Very Solid Example - Add-On Cold Air Conditioning Please Wait for All Pictures to Load! This is a Real Pocket Rocket! Offered from the private collection of one of our colleague Andy Greene's clients is this terrific 1970 Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Junior. He imported the car in 2002 from Italy where it lived a charmed life, ost importantly having had a 2 litre transplant along with that car's 5-speed close ratio box and limited slip rear end fitted in 1986, o it's certainly a case where 'Junior grew up'! The car also managed to avoid being eaten up by the usual tinworm - the underside and insides of doors, t.c. are very, ery clean throughout. Beware the rusty Alfa Romeo and covet the one that's always been straight and solid! The correct stainless bumpers front and rear are straight, he front one still wears its original Livorno tag (the rear did not come over from Italy). The Carello 7" H4 lamps are likely original to the car and in excellent condition. The car was comprehensively repainted at some point in the distant past - it is not a show-quality job but it is uniform and there are no bubbles or major defects. The body lines up very well and no indication of a shunt is evident anywhere. Cromodora 'Star' wheels from a later Veloce are a great look over the common steel rims. As before, ust a straight and solid example everywhere we look. All lights and signals work well. The vintage air system is very well engineered and included relocation of the battery into the trunk as seen here. A more professional installation would be hard to pull off. Original color sticker on underside of deck lid. The car sits just below its stock height but rides on progressive sport springs with Koni classic shocks. The ride and handling is outstanding - this is a real curve carver! The interior exhibits much originality and a few tasteful upgrades... let's explore. The seats are unmarked save for a little outer bolster wear on the driver's seat. The addition of a center console really makes this GT a standout 2+2. The wood from dashboard to steering wheel is beautiful as well. A modern Pioneer CD stereo with aux input is nice, ut it doesn't play music any more beautiful than the twin cam at full song! The rear seat is spacious for a small car. The package shelf hides the vents for the AC which works stunningly well. The headliner is original and is immaculate! Equally tidy under the bonnet, he Alfa 2 litre just had a full top end rebuild by Andy Greene's Sports and Vintage Race Cars in Savannah. The engine puts out great oil pressure, oesn't seem to leak or burn anything off and has great power. Note the slick custom Sanden A/C compressor installation seen here. A log book was kept of all work done to this car since it entered the USA and it has been a sizeable amount of work ranging from brakes to suspension to fluids and maintenance - the kilometer reading since that time has barely gone up 10k and we believe that the odometer represents one revolution based on the overall condition of this car. The Dell'Ortos and tune-up items are also fresh. This Alfa is ready to go! Original firewall tag and VIN stamping Closeups of all four Cromodora 14x6 wheels, hese were recently refinished. We've put some miles on this car prior to offering it for sale and we have to say it's wonderfully tight and precise to drive. A dealer was preparing to make an offer on it last week and had requested some underneath photos - he has not as yet responded, o we'll forward these to serious parties if you want to see more. Suffice to say I would not be offering this car to you if it was not super solid from stem to stern. Please also note that for the majority of the week we will be at Amelia Island for the auctions and the Concours d'Elegance. If I am a little slow to respond to an e-mail or phone call, hat may be why. I will get back to you promptly! payment/shipping This car is being sold by a licensed and bonded dealer of fine used automobiles located in Augusta (where this car is presently located) and Savannah, eorgia. Please understand that this is an unusual 46 year old vintage Alfa hand-built by men and not gods - and is thus sold as-is, here-is with no implied or stated warranty or guarantee; please be realistic about your expectations (i.e., f you expect it to run, tart and drive like a late model car, uy one of those instead... but a new Alfa Romeo will set you back quite a bit!!) As stated above in the listing, e have looked over this car thoroughly and believe it to be in extremely good health based on many years of experience with other sports, lassic and unusual cars of all types over many years. Its most recent caretaker and his specialist also own vintage racing Ferraris and have taken similar care of this Alfa. Full payment is due within seven days of auction close unless discussed with us in advance of your bid. Your winning bid is a contract to buy, ot just to look or for first right of refusal; the only reason your contract would be null and void is if it was found that we willingly misrepresented the car in the above description. If you feel you need to inspect the car prior to purchase, lease arrange and have this inspection done prior to placing a successful bid, e welcome your visit. Accepted forms of payment include a cleared certified cheque or wire transfer in the dealership's bank account, r cash in person on pickup (no cash via the mail, Bay!). We require that paperwork be completed prior to or at the time of pickup (should you do this in person) or filed back with us if done remotely. We do not charge any tax to out of state buyers as this is something you handle at the DMV or, aturally, ther dealers in all 50 states. Shipping or pickup must occur within fourteen days of auction close unless discussed with us in advance of your bid. We are happy to refer you to one of the high-quality open or enclosed collector car shipping companies that we use frequently in the normal course of business - and we cannot stress enough the importance of using such a carrier and not a random transport broker or carrier you might find online, articularly as this is a unique vintage car in phenomenal condition. For international buyers, e can carry the car to the port of Savannah at no charge or to other ports for a nominal fee, hough shipping beyond the U.S. border must be entirely arranged for and paid by you. Please contact us if you need any assistance with logistics and we'll be happy to help. We reserve the right to cancel all bids and end the auction early at any time during the course of the sale should a sale occur outside of eBay as the car has been offered quietly through other channels over the past week and will be actively talking up the car during this week that we'll be on the ground at Amelia Island. We typically do not pull auctions mid-stream at all - and only when full payment has been received from such a buyer will the auction be pulled. Any legal action associated with this sale from either the buyer or the seller is to take place in the State of Georgia in the Chatham County Courthouse. The bidder/buyer further agrees that any legal action will be heard in Chatham County in the State of Georgia. All legal actions associated with this auction/sale will be governed by the laws of the State of Georgia and buyer agrees to be responsible for all legal costs including, ut not limited to, ourt costs, xpenses, ttorney fees, ost of process service, nd all other costs associated with the normal course of business.
