Description of 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Giulietta T.I. |
1963 Giulietta Berlina T.I.1963YEAR$45000ASKING1.3CIDSky Blue COLORS AR00129.25392ENGINE # AR10129.225114VIN 108ODOMETER Rare North American Offering of a Turismo Internazionale, High Performance Upgrades, Documented with Ownership Records and Restoration Invoices, Perfectly Suited for Event Use.THE VEHICLE OFFEREDIn 1957, Alfa Romeo introduced a new high-performance engine for the 750-series Berlina, resulting in the Giulietta T.I., or Turismo Internazionale. The T.I. was carried over to the updated 101-series Giuliettas in 1959, and two years later a final engine upgrade increased output to an unprecedented 73 bhp. Surprisingly few examples of the T.I. were exported, making the availability of the tastefully upgraded example on offer here all the more refreshing. This 101-series Giulietta T.I. remained in Europe for many years and, by 1984, was registered to Milan resident Salvatore Picone. In 2001, John Williams imported the car to Great Britain; a year later enthusiast Paul Wignall purchased it in an unrestored state. He embarked on a substantial restoration, entrusting the engine to marque specialist Jim Evans for a complete rebuild that incorporated high-compression pistions, a ported and polished head, larger valves, and custom camshafts. After the restoration was completed, Mr. Wignall entered the T.I. in at least five rallies, placing as high as 2nd Overall at the 2003 Targa Rusticana. The rebuild and rally campaigns were detailed in The Giulietta Letter. In August 2004, the Alfa Romeo was sold to John Aspinall of England, whose further work resulted in its current outstanding presentation. Displaying a charming Sky Blue finish, this Berlina T. I. is a well-prepared example of a rarely seen Alfa Romeo model that is ideally suited for driving, concours, and club events. Additional photographs and videos available upon request.
