March 25. 2003 : Manufactured Nov. 3. 1966; sold Nov. 8. 1966 to Alfa Romeo Newark. NJ. In 1966 there were 6. 28 Giulia Sprint GT Veloces manufactured with serial numbers 240770---246897. NOTE : At some time a state registration department miss-typed the date showing 1967. Alfa documents and placement of components clearly prove it is a 1966. Why am I selling this wonderful car? I am 74; the Carolina Mountains are 200+ miles away and the roads in The Carolina Low Country are too “Damn” straight for the GREAT little car. This is one of the finest DRIVERS you will find. Here is why : The car is very close to its original condition. The motor was completely rebuilt by the Alfa “legend” Mr. Paul Spruell of Atlanta and the suspension redone to factory specifications. Motor : Rebuilt at 83. 83 miles in 2007. All internal parts replaced. polished/balanced. High performance cams/springs; pistons 81 mm at 10. 32:1; new bore liners. Wind-age tray in oil pan and heavy duty oil pump. New clutch. disc and pressure plate; Aluminum fly wheel. Gearbox : “gone through” bearings. etc. replaced as necessary. Carbs : Weber 40 DCOE. hand machined and polished for max. air flow. All internal parts new. Specs available for ventures. inlet tubes. jets. New chrome K&N air filters. Ignition : Ultra distributor with 16 adjustable curves and MSD ignition. New alternator. Steering and Suspension : All rods. ends. bushings (neoprene) replaced; Brakes (ATE) rebuilt 500 mile ago. Frame : Unibody points. cross members. suspension and wheels all laser checked and aligned. Documents and pictures available. Exhaust : Headers are hand formed. mandrel bent and powder coated by Mr. Spruell and set for maximum mid-range power. Wheels : original; checked for run-out. painted correct color(not powder coated). ub caps new and original center emblems retained. Brakes : Front rebuilt Feb. 2015; rear completely checked. Wiper/washer : Original washer bag. pump rebuilt. Wiper motor replaced with OEM new motor. transmission rebuilt. arms chromed. Interior This is REMARKABLE. All seats. doors/ side panels. and head liner are original and nearly perfect condition with little and no staining. (PLEASE STUDY THE PICTURES). Gauges are original. cleaned. calibrated. new bulbs and dash rewired. All interior trim re-chromed or replaced with new. Carpet replaced one year ago to Alfa color and specs. New door locks. locking rods. window feathers and rubber replaced. New turn signal and light column switch. Automatic cigarette lighter is rebuilt. works-- goes DING ! Looking at seats. headliner. carpet and gauges there is no indication this car was ever owned by a smoker. Heater System : Rebuilt fan motor; new heater core. hoses and all ducting; reworked baffles and controls. (The defrost really clears the windshield. ) Dash : As all Alfa owners know. the original dash was made of cardboard and a very thin wood vacuum pressed to this form. I removed the cracked covering. reduced thickness of dash so it could be brought back to original thickness with hand laid fiberglass. Dash then sent to Deco-Tech in Wisc. They used the original color. grain pattern and their photo emulsion process and created a new dash with no cracks. fades or blemishes. Original gauges. switches dropped right in the recesses. Radio : AM. FM. XM. hidden cassette behind face of radio. Front speakers are mounted in the kick panel map boxes and rear speakers in shelf holes. No holes cut in car to accommodate system. Exterior : New windshield and rubber gasket. New door handles and locks and trunk lock components. All badges new or re-chromed (original Quadrifoglias on C pillows). All lights replaced and new lens where needed. Carello driving lights on separate circuits. Lights are “floated” from bumper supports. There are no holes in bumpers. New center grill with original badge retained. Exterior mirrors are Talbot Berlin style 300. The right side mirror is convex. Original mirror boxes retained. This is a NO RUST car and body very straight. Only minor road nicks. Car looks to have been painted once with correct color. I have owned the Alfa for the past ten years and it has been garaged in an air conditioned show room. Before that. my research shows it was a mid-west car. There are some “glamour parts” that have been installed. but original parts retained and will go to the next owner. i. e. steering wheel and horn; air filter box and intakes; cast exhaust headers; floor mats; mirror and shift knob. This car is so straight it will track down the road “at speed” with your hands in your lap…. but with your hands on the wheel. a twisting road with some hills. you know it is a Remarkable Italian Car.
