1974 Hornet Sportabout

I purchased this vehicle in 2011 with the intention of restoring it. It's originally from California near Disneyland, ut was in St. George, tah from approx 1998 till 2011 when I purchased it. This dry environment helped to preserve it and keep it rust free. It has the AMC inline six cylinder 258 cubic inch engine paired to a TorqueFlight 904 transmission. I had the transmission professionally rebuilt in 2013. I've also installed a new carter carb and had it Maaco painted so it looks great. Since I've brought it to Maryland, have noticed a few tiny bubbles under the paint which is probably rust starting. The weather stripping is dried out and will need replaced. Additionally, here are spots that are sunfaded like the carpet. The stearing column has been replaced, nd I can't find parts for the horn switch. Thankfully, uch of this vehicle is AC Delco and Mopar, r Jeep so there is a lot of replacement parts available still. Starts, uns, o issues. Gets a lot of attention and is a fun car.

I don't have the time to finish it, nd I can't stand to see it sit in the driveway unused. The tires were new in 2013 and have less than 15,000 miles on them. Alternator is rebuilt, iper motor has been replaced, nd it's had a recent tune up. Additionally, 've replaced the points and condensor with an electronic ignition. Not having to gap the points is fantastic.

I wanted to add: It does have front disc brakes (from the factory) which is nice, nd I have four new shock absorbers that will come with it, aven't had a chance to install. Also intermittant wipers and the drivers side door rear view mirror is adjustable, hich for AMC in 1974, as an option. Also it does have the AMC AM radio, hich does work, ut is not connected.
