Description of 1970 AMC Javelin SST Mark Donohue

1970 Mark Donohue SST Javelin 390 4 speed-Matching # car!!!--This car has been sitting in a dry garage since 1979!!!!! It has 37,000 original miles--Here is the history of the car--This car was ordered new at Long Motors in Ithaca NY-The original owner that is still alive gave me the information on the car-He ordered this car and he worked at Long Motors-It was a Nash Metropolitan dealer located on State Street in Ithaca-It was the only Donohue to be delivered to that dealership-Within the first week of delivery he added the sidewinder exhaust. He drove this car for 2 years and put 30,000 miles on it. The gas shortage was coming into play and he traded it in on a new car-It was then sold to a man here in the Elmira area-Actually Wellsburg NY to be exact-He too is alive and well and I have spoken to him and he came and inspected the car-he purchased it in 72 and from then till 1979 he put 7,000 miles on it-from there it went into storage and hasn't moved since till I got my hands on it-It was sitting way up in the air on jack stands on blocks-It was pretty high off the ground in a garage-When I purchased the car it had a set of giant Mickey Thompson 50 series tires on the back with some deep dish wheels-and had the factory rims on the front with the original tires on it that were bald and dry rotted but held air-I do in fact have all four factory wheels and trim rings-The second owner told me he purchased those fat tires from Tom Hollerans speed shop on Broadway in Elmira in 1977--The window stickers and registration are still from 1980--He came and looked at it and couldn't believe it! Said it was exactly the way it was in the 70's when he last drove it-It retains 100% of its original paint-never hit and never had any paint work-the cars frame floors and trunk are perfect!!!!the body has a couple pings in it and has a minor crease in the lip on the rear quarter from when he pulled it in the garage. The bottoms of the rear quarters are just starting to rust-please see the pics-I pulled the car out and took it to my mechanic to have him go over the car--He ran a scope down the tank and it was rust free. Changed the oil and put some fresh gas in it and low and behold it fired right up-Now it needed some things repaired from sitting for the past years-It had 2 of the soft plugs that let go and were leaking, e replaced 2 calipers that were leaking, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, nd I had to take it to a custom muffler shop and he was able to fabricate the side exhaust. the car had headers on it when I got it but came with the original exhaust manifolds which I put back on the car-The sidewinders were toast so I had him create a custom set of sidewinders and it sounds great and he did a fantastic job. From there I had to do something about the wheels-I do in fact have the factory wheels. But I opted for a set of US Mag Aluminum Slots-I think they look good-But if you don't want them I will gladly take them off and sell it with the original wheels and keep the Slots--The interior of the car is actually in nice shape-Please see the pics-The driver seat has wear and is splitting just from being old and the more we sit in it and move it around the worse its getting. The carpet is original and nice-the headliner is drooping but is good-Please see all the pics-Its the red corduroy--and the car is Matador Red--The car runs drives and stops but I have only driven it around the block-Remember its been sitting since 1979!!!! The paint on the car is actually nice considering its 100% original paint!-It really is an unmolested survivor car--I will put the new owner in Contact with the 2 owners both of which are very nice men-Its funny I actually tracked down the original owner through the net and I called him up and asked if he owned a Javelin? and he said do you have my Donohue?? and I said sure enough I do-He thought the car was long gone by now-and I sent him some pictures of the car and he couldn't believe it-It was exactly how it was when he traded it in back in 72-He never imagined it was put into storage for all these years-The car really is a time capsule-So that's the car-Please view all the pics carefully and ask questions or come and see the car-I will gladly take any pictures you want-And yes I do have the build sheet-It was right under the back seat-Mice got to a little of it but I do have it-I also have the original space saver spare and canister and jack and lug wrench-they have never been used-I do also have the original smog pump-and the original wheels go with the car-this car has 100% original paint and matching # motor tranny and rear-And yes the pinstripe is painted on and was there when it rolled off the truck at long motors in 1970

1 More thing-I also have a 1969 AMX Barn find that's a 1 owner car-Its a project car-but its a 1 Owner #'s matching 343 4 speed car-I will be listing it on ebay next week
