Description of 1969 AMC Hurst SC/Rambler Fresh correct seats and carpeting |
1969 AMC Hurst SC/Rambler Nice four owner "A" paint scheme Hurst SC/Rambler with a single repaint back in 1984. Car was stored from 1984 until 1999 when I purchased it. It has 49,0XX original but inaccurate miles. Mileage is overstated because the car ran uncorrected with 4.44 gears for part of its life. Currently has 3.15 gears and the speedometer reads correctly at 60 MPH with taller tires. This is number 319 of the first 500 "A" paint scheme cars according to the Hurst SC/Rambler Registry. Only 1,512 total SC/Ramblers were built. A typical "urban legend" story. I learned of this survivor while having dinner at Bobby Moore's original "Race Rock Motor City Cafe" in Clinton Township, MI. Sitting with a work associate of my wife by the window watching all the cars arrive for cruise night, he tells us this story about his "too hot to drive car" that has been sitting in his parent's garage since 1984. He was the third owner and purchased the car from a neighbor down the street who he thought to be the original owner. He had first seen the car when he was 8 years old. The neighbor gave him his first ride in the car when he was 12. Interviewing this owner identified an original owner out of California. List of owners available. Car still had 1985 licenses plates on it when purchased in 1999 from the third owner. Car is a survivor, a real garage find, 15 years undercover. One repainted in 1984. No rust and not significantly restored. Rear fenders were radiused for tire clearance at the same time. Details: • Both bumpers rechromed • American 200S polished wheels, 17" front, 15" rear with DOT street legal slicks • Engine is +.030" and has less than 500 miles since rebuild. • Comp XE262H hydraulic street cam (262/270 - .493/.500) • Hooker headers - coated with electric cut-outs • Edelbrock powder coated RPM Air Gap intake with 770 FCM Holley Street Avenger • Offenhauser powder coated valve covers • MSD distributor and ignition system, 6,000 RPM rev limiter (additional chips included) • Rebuilt wide ratio T-10 4-speed with 2.63 first gear makes the car easy to launch on the street and will drive at freeway speeds • Front disc brake calipers and rear brakes rebuilt, but not fresh • Glove box signed by Linda Vaughn, Miss Hurst Golden Shifter • Accurate fresh seats and carpeting • Red & blue fitted car cover • Car has been displayed in Chrysler Woodward Dream Cruise display at 13 Mile & Woodward • Car has been displayed at Detroit Autorama • Car was at AMC Proving Grounds |
