SELLER HAS LOWERED RESERVE Up for bids is a 1966 American Motors Rambler American 440 Convertible. All AMC cars are relatively rare and some more than others. This is no exception. In 1966 only 2029 Rambler American convertibles were produced of which only 28 of them were 290 ci V8 cars. The first V-8s ever installed in the Rambler American body. Only a fraction of that number still survive. This is one of them. It has electric wipers, front disc brakes, power top, and seat belts, all very rare for this type of car in1966. I changed to a 4 barrel carb when kits for the original 2 barrel became hard to find. Still have the original carb and manifold for you, if you want to change to the way it came. The wheels got changed to what you see, the old ones were getting pretty bad. Redid the brakes this yea, and put these tires on a year or so back . the old ones looked like new but were 16 years old. Just don't drive it enough anymore. SO THAT' IS WHY IT'S FOR SALE THIS WAS A DAILY DRIVER WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT OVER 35 YEARS AGO. It has been kept in a garrage as long as I've owned it, while our new cars are parked on the street. About 25 years ago the engine was rebuilt and the whole car was redone. It had about 97,000 miles then. Since then it's been a ' Sunday once a month' kind of car. All has been kept up , but is 50+ years old, so little things always need attention. Currantly registered and licensed in California. WHAT I KNOW.... Speedo cable needs attention. Gas gauge not always accurate, shift linkage a little worn, and AM radio ( thats all they had ) weak. A few minor scratches and wear but looks better than most cars a small fraction of it's age. I have a few extra parts aroun, everything extra I can find the buyer will be welcome to.
