Description of 1969 AMC AMX |
For sale is an extremely rare Amx Out of all the 69 X's made. less than 300 of them were done in the highly desirable Big Bad Green. Door tag reads Paint :4A Trim 936L. This car has spent most of its life in dry southern California. I have had it for several years now. about 7. The previous owner had it for 22 years. there were several owners before that as well. It does come with a box of DMV. and other receipts. so you may be able to trace it back. This car is not a one owner Babied low mileage museum quality show car. it has been repainted at least once. interior partially redone. as well as many other things. I would consider it a nice driver quality project that also shows well. Goes down the road pretty good. no shakes or pulling. brakes work well (4 piston Disc in front). Exhaust is so so. it has headers on it that leak a little. stock manifolds are long gone. but fairly easy to obtain if desired. as the were the same for all 290-390 Amc V8's from 67-69. It is currently running on a 1969 343 4BBL That came out of my 69 Ambo. Good running. with a small cam. The original 390 Come with the car. it was making some piston noise when pulled. and will need to be redone. shipping on this will be the buyers responsibility. Original Borg Warner M-12 Was rebuilt many years ago. and shifts great. Rear is a 3:15 Posi that seams to work well. original Torque links are in place. It does have a couple drips. one by the oil filter adapter. and one at the Transmission filler tube. Body :Extremely clean the car was painted about 7 years ago. when the engine compartment was painted. the front clip was removed. pressure washed. sanded. and repainted. the troughs under the fenders which are normally a rust issue with these cars were still bright silver. and never even flash rusted. So I had them painted with the compartment to seal them. There are some scratches. chips. small dings. not very noticeable. but there. the car has been driven. and showed. and used. and leaned on. and is not perfect. BB Bumper trim is nice. There is only 1 500 Special Badge. it was this way when I got it. I think the previous owner kept one for a keepsake or something. Tail Light Assembly is so so. and should be replaced if you want it perfect. as well as the mirrors. all other trim is pretty nice. Has a couple dents in the floor pans. maybe from a trailer ? don't know. was that way when I got it. could be fixed with some heat. and an able bodyman . Interior:The Title Matches the Vin Tag. which matches the frame stamping. door and vin tag do not look like they have ever been removed. Valve cover tag dates correctly to car. and from what I have been told. the dash number (14621) is within a handful of numbers from other 500 Specials. No other paperwork is there. All in all pretty nice. Could use to have the seats and door panel redone. as they are original from 1969. Carpet and visors are from Legendary After market sill plates Tilt Column. Wheel needs to be restored Radio and clock work when they want to. ll other gauges are in working order. Horn is not hooked up. as it blows all the time. so I just unplugged the relay under the hood. A/C is missing everything under the hood. heater works. but you will have to manually turn the heat valve on the motor. All in all. a very nice example of a very rare Rambler. If you are Serious about buying this car. I would highly recommend coming out and seeing the car in person. I am located about an hour north of Minneapolis Mn. The car will not be test driven. as we have a ton of salt on the roads here. and I will not let this car get salt on it while in my care. If the car sells. it will not leave my property until my bank has notified me that it is safe. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements |
