Description of 1969 AMC AMX SST 390

1969 American Motors Ambassador SST 390 4-DOOR Sedan.
This car was sold new in 1969 with the rare Factory AMC X-code 390 cubic inch V8 with 10.2:1 compression ratio, forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, and 4-barrel carburetor.
The ORIGINAL owner's manual in the glove box verifies that this car's RARE 390 cubic inch 4-barrel carbureted engine produced 316 horsepower and 424 lb-ft of torque.
AMC built only a few thousand of these Ambassador SST 4-door sedans with the AMX 390/4V engine, selling most to police departments, limo companies, or taxi companies.
Not many survived.
I have paperwork for the car's entire life.Car was treated to Ziebart when new to prevent rust.
Paint looks good (one repaint years ago)
Interior looks original and clean. Two bench seats with 6 pairs of seat belts.Front bench seat is a manual split seat and both seat backs can fully recline.Chrome looks good.Headliner looks good.Glass looks good.Carpet looks good.Four original wire wheel covers look good.Original spare tire/wheel and jack are in the trunk.Windows are manual and work as they should.Dash looks good except for a few cracks in the center radio speaker grill.Car is clean throughout.
Looks Rust free (other than a few rust bubbles under the vinyl roof.)
Floors and Trunk are solid.New reproduction under-hood insulation mat.New reproduction trunk floor lining.
Car runs, drives, and stops and can be loaded onto your transport trailer.
HOWEVER, before you drive across the country in this original 1969 car with 143,000 miles, the car will need to be serviced due to the mileage.
I bought it from a guy that claimed it was ready to drive and enjoy. No, it needs to be serviced to be safe and reliable.
Engine starts and runs. I have never driven it out of my neighborhood.Transmission has a leak, perhaps from the pan gasket.Front suspension should be inspected and serviced. It's old.I never inspected the brakes. It stops.A/C system is complete but has not been converted to the new Freon, nor has it been checked for leaks. (not while I owned it).Prior owner installed dual exhaust & 2 obnoxious mufflers.Air Cleaner Lid is not original, but an aftermarket top.
CLEAN SC title in my name with no liens.
I am selling because Iam NOT a mechanic, but an enthusiast that loves old cars.
I'm trying to disclose as much as I can regarding what I know about the car.The guy that sold the car to me sold it as a ready-to-enjoy driver. It's not.
Local pick up or I will assist your shipper.
We are located 5 minutes West of Charlotte, NC and are minutes from I-85 and I-77.
Car is sold as-is.
THANKS.
